The B'nai Israel Cemetery in Jackson is located next to the Hollywood Cemetery on Hollywood Drive in central Jackson, Tennessee. The first cemetery on Mobile Avenue rested on land purchased in 1873 by J. Samuels. The current cemetery was opened in 1896, with older remains being moved there from the original location. This transcription includes a set of photos of each visible grave or grave marker. Where a listing appears without a photo, that entry was made after our initial photographing of the cemetery and we will provide photos of these markers as we obtain them. There were earlier partial listings taken in 1991 and 1994.

Two descendants of the early Jackson Jewish community, Jonas Kisber and Phillip Lindy, spoke to us on the day we completed our transcription of this cemetery. In the early days, both the Kisber and Lindy families owned competing stores on Main Street in Jackson. However, their children intermarried and the families are both well represented in the burial roster.
