OBITUARY - JENNIE K. STANLEY

Jennie K. Stanley, 87, of San Diego, California, died November 16, 1997 at Mercy Hospital in San Diego.She was born March 30, 1910 in Waukegan, Illinois. She was the daughter of the late August and Greta Swanson. She was a retired homemaker. She was an avid reader and book collector, with particular interests in cooking and medicine. She was also a music lover, a good vocalist, and took great pride in the musical careers and abilities of her children.
One of her proudest achievements upon receiving her high school diploma, was being offered an academic scholarship to college. She had aspirations of becoming a physician, but instead chose to raise a family.
She is survived by her 4 sons, Lester (Judy) Stanley, Jr. of Waukegan, Illinois; Glenn (Sue) Stanley of Zion, Illinois; James Stanley, of San Diego, California, with whom she was living at the time of her death; and Robert (Barbara) Stanley, of Pensacola, Florida; one daughter, Shirley (Jerry) Reeves, of Waukegan, Illinois; 13 grandchildren, Kathy Pulse and Jeanne Bardonner, both of California; Wesley and Russell Reeves of Waukegan, Illinois; Scott Stanley of Warren, Michigan; Jill Whitehead of McHenry, Illinois; JoAnn Stanley of St. Paul, Minnesota; Jeff and Daniel Stanley of Zion, Illinois; Bobby and Greta Stanley of Kenosha, Wisconsin; Farrell and Colin Stanley of Pensacola, Florida; 10 great grandchildren, Debbie and Elizabeth Pulse of Sacramento, California; Daniel Bardonner of Duarte, California; Erin and Mary Reeves of Waukegan, Illinois; Travis and Ryan Whitehead of McHenry, Illinois; Jared Stanley of Zion, Illinois; and Rebecca and Kenny Stanley of Warren, Michigan; 2 great- great grandchildren, Grace Ferguson and Marques Johnson of California; 2 sisters, Alma Watson and Ruth Cass of California, several nieces and nephews, and her dear friends and caregivers Katie Jones and Betty Washington of California.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband of 63 years, Lester A. Stanley; 2 brothers, Roy and Arthur Swanson; and one sister Esther (Henry) Belzer.Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 24, 1997, at 2 P.M. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Internment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Libertyville. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M.
