Colour coding of markers

Markers with a  red background  are "multi-copy" markers, ie they occur at several points in the Y-Chromosome, and it is not possible to determine which is which (except for DYS385a and DYS385b, whose order may be determined with the Kittler Test). The counts are, therefore, given in size order, smallest first.

The  DYS389  markers are such that DYS389i is contained within DYS389ii. So a mutation of DYS389i must also be a mutation of DYS389ii, but not necessarily vice versa.

There is a 5-point difference in the way DNA Heritage (our previous DNA testing company) and Family Tree DNA (our current testing company) report  DYS442 . We have adopted FTDNA's reporting system for all participants, to simplify comparison of the results.

A marker shown with the value "-" is one that was tested, but no result could be obtained.
