"Amidst the multiplied Literature of this progressive age, we find it interesting and refreshing to read something from the annals of our ancestors..."

          So begins the journal of Elijah John Stephens.  In 1898, Elijah John set out to record the history of his Stephens family in America.  More than one hundred years later, this journal is in possession of Mary Joyce Ponder, a descendant of William Alexander Stephens, one of Elijah John's brothers who contributed his own autobiography to the journal.  This website seeks to continue the legacy Elijah John began.
