WILL OF WILLIAM BAILEY

County of Anson /

In the name of God Amen. I, William Bailey, being weak in body but of sound mind and memory do make this my last will and testament.

Item First. I will and bequeath to my Grand Daughter Anne Bailey, daughter of my son Thos. Bailey one negro man named Nathan to her & her heirs forever.

Item 2nd. I will and bequeath to my granddaughter Jane Margaret Bailey one negro boy Calvin to her & her heirs.

Item 3rd. I lend to my daughter Jane Gatewood four negro slaves Caroline & her three children, Charles, Mary & Ellen, during her natural life & at her death my will is [that] they should go to her three daughters Emeline Gatewood, Sarah Gatewood and Judith Gatewood, to them and their heirs forever.

Item 4th. I lend to my daughter Nancy Williams three negro slaves Nelly and her two children Ellick & Charles during her natural life & at her death my will is the said negroes should go to her children to them forever.

Item 5th. I lend to my daughter Sarah Lucas two negroes Charlotte & her youngest child during her natural life & at her death I will them to be divided among her children to them & their heirs forever.
