Inventory of Hailesboro Cemetery, Fowler, NY

In July of 2003 I made two trips to Hailesboro Cemetery in the town of Fowler. To reach this cemetery, head out Rt 58 from Gouverneur. After passing New St. James cemetery on the right, and a green barn on the left, turn left onto Old Route 58 (Main Street in Hailesboro) right before you reach the rock cliffs. The cemetery is on the right shortly after you enter the town of Fowler. From the other direction (Edwards/Russell), take Rt 58 towards Gouverneur, go pass the village of Fowler, and then turn right onto Main Street at Hailesboro. Continue through the village until you see the cemetery on your left.

I took photos of the stones and documented the inscriptions. Below is the inventory I developed during those visits. When a picture is available, the name of the person will be 'clickable' to bring up the picture. NOTE: The only names recorded here are for people who had markers that I could find in the cemetery. It does not include any other people who might have been buried but for whom no marker could be found. Be sure to check out the "Unknowns" at the bottom of the list and let me know if you can identify any of them. All comments can be directed to Anne M. Cady

NOTE: This is a fairly large cemetery so I broke it into sections. Click on the link below to see a really rough map I drew to show how I defined the sections for this inventory. Note that the section designations are completely created for my own use, and do not represent any real section numbers used by the cemetery.
