There are several A2 sheets giving statements by inhabitants of Robin Hood's Bay in this dispute conducted by Commissioners. The following is just one of these statements. It was noted quickly and some words may have been read incorrectly. Isabel Storm was Isabella Harrison (1702-1774) and she married in1726 WilliamStorm (1699-1747).

Isabel Storm of Robin Hood's Bay in Fylingdales in the County of York aged 56 …deposeth…-

To the first Interrogatory this Deponent saith that she does not know the complainant but knows all the dependants in the title of the Interrogatories named, and hath known them respectively for many years last past.

To the second Interrogatory the Deponent saith that she knows the Rectory of Whitby in the County of York, and the Chapel of Fyling otherwise Fylingdales…. and Robin Hood's Bay - within the said Chapelry where the Deponent was born lived the greater part of her life, that the said Chapelry and town of Robin Hood's Bay are situated adjoining the sea and are reputed to be within the parish of Whitby aforesaid and to be part and parcel of the said Rectory that the trade of fisherman all this deponents remembrance, and for time out of time as she believes hath been carried on at Robin Hood's Bay, and the fishermen there have been used to pay Tyth for the fish by whom caught at sea.

To the 5th and 9th Interrogations this Deponent saith that she was born in Robin Hood's Bay, and about 31 years was married to William Storm fisherman who afterwards lived about 21 years at Robin Hood's bay and was then drowned at sea, and during all that time there followed the trade of a fisherman in taking fish with a fishing boat in the summer season off the coast of Robin Hood's bay, and afterwards in the autumn season yearly went with the said boat to take Herrings off the coast of Yarmouth which he and his partners sold to the Merchants of Yarmouth, and the said Herring fishery being ended which was generally about a fortnight after Michaelmas he returned with the said boat to Robin Hood's bay where the same was laid up for the winter season, and during each winter season he went in a coble with 2 others to assist him in taking fish at sea off the coast of Robin Hood's Bay where they landed and sold the same - And saith that the said husband and his partners aboard the said boat and coble respectively yearly paid unto Mrs Cholmley the then owner of the said Tyth of Robin Hood's Bay or to his agent or Tyth gatherer at the several times following the several compositions for the Tyth of the said boat and coble herein after mentioned that is to say / the sum of three guineas a year for the Tyth of the said boat, on the said boat opinning(?) yearly from the said Herring fishery, and Seven Shillings and Sixpence yearly for the Tyth of the said coble on Whitsun Monday yearly or so soon after the same was demanded.
