Genealogy
Genealogy is a vast, addictive hobby that can make one bang one's head against the brick wall of a missing name, or make one jump for joy at a heretofore undiscovered tidbit of information. It isn't all just names, dates, and places. It is our history, our genes, and, ultimately, the history of humanity. In my genealogy alone, there are the stories of the pioneers of Kentucky; the gentle plainness of the Quakers; the valiant fight of the Hugenots for religious freedom; the echoes of the guns of wars from the American Revolution to World War II; the stories of nobles and Kings, peasants and farmers; and the simple life cycle of marriage, birth and death.
I began doing genealogy in 1977, shortly after finding my biological family. Since then, I have spent hours in libraries, writing to state agencies, talking to relatives, searching on the Internet, and e-mailing new Internet friends and relatives, uncovering the mysteries of my families and the past.
My search led me to my Uncle Charles, who sat and told me all he knew of his side of the family inside the beautiful Texas home he built himself; my cousin Jane in Ohio, who first began doing research on my biological father's side of the family a long time ago, and presented me with a genealogical chart when we first met; my Great-Aunt Emma Lou, who took me into her humble home in Kentucky, even though she had never met me and although there had been a murder in the area recently; my Great-Aunt Lillie, who fed me one of those wonderful Southern breakfasts with huge biscuits in gravy; my Great-Aunt Gracie, who opened her family Bible to me and talked happily about her children one summer day in Kentucky; and to so many others who I have been privileged to meet.
And it has led me to the documents linked below,
which are the lines of both of my families and my husband's. I hope
I may be able to help provide some information that you are looking for,
and that I may help add a branch to your family tree.
*Please note that these pages are still a work
in progress. Although there is much information here, there is more
that will be added. Please check back occasionally for new information
and updates.*
Important: Please Read
This research has been done by me over a period
of more than 20 years. All of it may be freely taken and used, so
long as no one takes the information, claims it as their own, and tries
to sell it for profit. Some of my information has come from other
web sites and other researchers, some from books, some from people I've
talked with, some from official documents, and some from personal knowledge.
I cannot verify that any of this information is absolutely accurate, and
assuredly, some of it is not. Please use this information as a starting
point for your own search, not as an end. To save space, I
have omitted some information (occupation, emigration, religion, medical,
etc.), and omitted notes and sources. If you are interested in more
detailed information or the sources for any piece of information, please
e-mail me, and I will be happy to try to provide it. If you have
information to share, or want to correct any information I have, I would
love to hear from you.
