Created 1839 from Sangamon & Shelby Counties

The 1850 Census names each free person in a household and includes in the information their age, sex, color and for males over the age of 15, this census also includes the occupation.  It states the value of real estate owned, whether a person could read or write if over the age of 20 and whether the person listed was deaf-mute,blind, insane, an idiot, a pauper, or a convict.
