| Almost
all Brenenstuhl´s (of greatly varying spellings)
descend from Johann Michael who emigrated from
Weil im Schoenbuch in about 1727. The subject of
this brief sketch, is SETH BRENENSTAHL, grandson
of Mikel who came to America just before the
Revolutionary War and settled at White Plains,
New York and served in the Continental Army
during the War of Independence. Mikel's son, Abram was born
about 1785 in Troy, New York and married Hannah
(Fink) and were the parents of Seth who was born
12 Feb 1812 in New York. He married Lucy V.
(Hobart) in Pompey, New York in about 1835 and
afterwards, removed to Syracuse, New York.
In the Spring of
1843, Seth, his pregnant wife Lucy and their
small son George, moved to Dundee, Monroe county,
Michigan where they were listed in the 1850 census with children: George,
Horace, James and Minerva. They were then
enumerated in the 1860 cenus listed as Seth
"Barnstall" houshold #1186 in the
Township of Raisinville, City of Monroe.
