Thomas Coulton and E M Bowie visited friends in Welchville Sunday of last week. Walter Lovejoy is sawing wood for people in town, obtaining power from a gasoline engine. Win Chase of Poland was the guest of Lottie Grant Monday of last week.

As Rev. and Mrs. A S Staples were driving to Welchville, Saturday evening March 3, they met the stage and had nearly passed it when the runner of their sleigh came in contact with a large block of ice, upsetting the sleigh and throwing the occupants out directly in front of the stage horses, who walked over them before they could be stopped, but inflicted not injuries except a few slight bruises.

The Oxford Band serenaded Frank Durell, elected first selectman Monday, the same evening. A ladies whist party was held Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Fred McAllister and Mrs. Walter Holden. Mrs. Hosea McKay spent last week at her home in Norway.

Mrs. Arthur Varley is the guest of Mrs. George Hazen. Lulu Stone visited relatives in Otisfield last week. Bertha and Annie Hazen passed a few days of last week with Mr. and Mrs. F E Hanscomb at Bethel. Mrs. Annie Tarr spent Saturday and Sunday with relatives at Lisbon Centre.

Mrs. Elvira Foster, who has been at the hospital in Lewiston for treatment, during the past nine weeks returned to her home and friends Saturday. Lottie Grant with friends from Poland attended the Clerk's Ball at Norway Friday night. Mannie Smith of Lisbon Falls is the guest of her brother, Will Smith. Fred Delano and son Harry went to Lewiston Saturday to consult an oculist regarding Harry's eyes.

As Elmer Walter was helping to bind a load of hay Wednesday the binding pole broke, throwing him on his back and laming his seriously. He is confined to the house.

Primary and intermediate schools closed March 2. Following is a lost of the intermediate pupils who have not been tardy or absent one half day during the term: Harry Kay, Harry Delano, Alton Delano, Arthur Walker, Blanche Smith, Margaret Walker, and Lina Carr.

Mr. Ansel Dennen is home from Kent's home for a few weeks vacation. Miss Mary Frost of Auburn was the guest of Annie Littlefield last week. Mrs. John Butler, who has been dangerously ill, is slowly recovering.

Ralph Adams, who has been home for a short time, has returned to Boston. Ralph Coleman has been the guest of his sister Mrs. Will Andrews. Mrs. R T Frank has returned home from Woodfords. Hermie Mixer is visiting his uncle H M Woodman of East Auburn. The Ladies Union Circle will meet at the vestry on Wednesday march 21. Supper will be served from six to eight o'clock, followed by a short entertainment.
