Welcome! My husband and I want to dedicate this website to our parents, Ruth
Sherman and George Edminster; Jean Walker and Frank Shane, and all the
others who went before. Memories of them have spurred us on.
Our family research has been ongoing for about 15 years now and during that time we've learned that for every door of information we manage to open, there's still another behind it for which we must find the key. And so it continues. We eventually realized there would never be a time when everything was tidy and complete so decided to go ahead and share what we have, in the hope it will be helpful to you and at the same time provide us with connections to "cousins" we have yet to meet. The information on the site is freely available for personal use but may not be used for any commercial purposes. Also, please credit our website if you choose to use the information in any of your documents. Our personal research is the main basis for the information on the site, but other family members with knowledge and memories of the family have also contributed. While I've tried to be very accurate, there's always the possibility of errors so please be responsible for verifying the data yourself using appropriate and verifiable sources. A list of many of my sources is included on the site, categorized for each family. Information not specifically sourced may not yet be proven, but feel free to contact me for details or clarification if need be. The site is primarily about the history of our families and tells their stories through biographical sketches and pictures. Somtimes maps, data such as census extractions, documents and memorabilia are included and there are links and contact information for others researching these same families. I've also recently started two companion websites and hope you'll visit them: Blog: http://echohillancestors-susan.blogspot.com/
Wiki: http://echohillancestors.wikispaces.com/ You
may be wondering why there are three separate websites. The
reason is that each one fills a particular need, for example the blog
is a sort of ongoing "conversation" about the family history and other
genealogy related subjects, the Wiki is a collaborative website with
multiple contributors, and this site is primarily devoted to historical
sketches about the families. So I hope you'll check all three
sites to see everything that's available.
Since this is my first attempt at a website please bear with me as the kinks are worked out. And since it's a work in progress, don't hesitate to contact me at: susaned1@verizon.net if you have any questions or find errors to report. I hope you enjoy your visit and will come back again to see what's been added!
