Hi, I'm Audra. Compiling this site has been a labor of love that's lasted a few years now. I couldn't have collected all of this information without the help of a lot of Swanhart descendants who talked with me on the phone, traded information via e-mail, and volunteered their histories. Jim and Vicki Swanhart near Harrisburg, PA were a huge help they did most of the digging in the state archives and sent me what they found. Thanks to all of you, and I hope you gain satisfaction from seeing what your generosity became. A word on my compilation and discovery policy: while I collect information on living members of the Swanhart family, I do not publish that information in this Web-based format, nor do I freely share it with other individuals. As you browse the family tree here at the Swanhart site, you'll see that living people are mentioned by name, but I've deleted all birthdate and birthplace information. The genealogy does not go any further "down" than three generations from James Swanhart and Martha McMullen because most people who are four generations or more from James and Martha are still alive. In the McMullen genealogy, there are simply too many McMullens to go "down" from Martha, so I went "up" five generations. You should be able to find pertinent information about your McMullen line, but if you can't, please write me and I can help you out. Also, I'd love to have more photos for the site. It's a bit bare, isn't it? If you can scan pictures of your parents or grandparents (again, I would prefer photos of the departed in order to ensure the privacy of the living), that would be great. If you have photos to share, but don't have a scanner, write me. Not only will I scan photos, but I'm a crack graphics editor. I will enlarge or repair your material for the price of postage and e-mail the finished job back to you. You can then print it out or take it on disk to a camera shop and have them print it. The photo below is my grandfather, Lew Swanhart. This was part of a group shot, and in the original, Lew's face is about the size of a pencil eraser. The original is tattered, as well. Not a bad result, if I do say so myself, and I can do the same for your aging photos. |
