| If you look carefully, you can see that James Swanhart's name was James Swinehart when he enlisted in the Union Army. Sometime between the end of the war (1865) and his death (around 1911), either he changed the family name to Swanhart OR he reverted to his father Reuben's Irish surname, which had been altered to the more familiar Swinehart during Reuben's immigration to the US. |
