Swann & Allied Families Of Cabell County West Virginia

My name is George Swann. Welcome to my webpage for the Swann Family of Cabell County, West Virginia. Nearly all the Swann or Swan families in Cabell, Wayne, Mason, & Lincoln counties descended from the Leven or Thomas Swann families. There are other Swanns that came into the area, some from Pennsylvania and some from Meigs Co. Ohio, that are unrelated to our ancestors.

I have been researching the Swann, Jenkins, Hatfield, Hinchman, Maab, Morrison, Dial, Tharp, Hash, and related families for well over 20 years, since I was 11 years old. Some of the data I have may be called into question because of inaccurate information that has been circulated through the years. But I am confident of what I have gathered, that is why I have begun sharing what I have collected. The Leven C. Swann Cemetery is located on Malcolm Road, at Ousley's Gap, about 5 miles from Barboursville. I am working on a map of the cemetery. I have also been successful in locating the names of many people who are buried in the rock-marked & unmarked graves there.

I do not have as much free time to devote to genealogy as I used to, but I am always on the lookout for a new lead on our ancestors. I hope to add & update information regularly. If you have any questions, comments, changes, etc. please email me at hp1869@juno.com with them. Also don't forget to sign my guestbook.
