welcome
to the Ward
Family home page. The Ward family may have immigrated from
England or Ireland. The earliest known was Daniel
Armen Ward, born about 1826 in Adams County,
Ohio and possibly a Civil War Veteran. His
parents
were listed on the 1880 Census as
born in Pennsylvania. The most probable father is Benjamin
Ward listed in the 1840 and 1860 Census in Highland and Adams
County. Another possible father of Daniel may be Robert
Ward from Pennsylvania. He is in the 1840 to 1860 Census with
several children. A
possible grandfather of Daniel is Barny Ward of Ireland, born in 1773,
listed in the 1850 Census in Highland County. More research is needed to confirm the origins
of
Daniel Ward. Daniel married Emma Taylor in 1849 and
had 12 children born in Adams and Highland Counties, Ohio, and Marion
County, Missouri. Of
these children, Elmer
Landon
Ward born in 1864, married Ida
Ellen
Lewis in 1889 in Highland County. The Lewis family came
from
Wales, England about 1790. Toby
Ward, born in 1891, the second child of Landon and Ida Ward,
married Grace
Seaman, great granddaughter of Hamilton
Dunbar, in 1915. The Seaman
Family from Virginia moved to Adams County, Ohio and farmed large
areas
of land. Eventually the town of Seaman was named after this
family. The Dunbar Family have an extensive
history from Pennsylvania, Virginia, Kentucky, and into Ohio.
The Ward Family History continued with
several
more children born in Louden, Adams County, and North Union, Highland
County, Ohio and parts of Missouri and Kansas.
