8.  Samuel4 ROSEBERRY (566) (James, #16); born 1820 in NC; married Agnes Jane Manly (567) (see #9) November 20, 1841 in Rockingham, NC.  He died December 12, 1881 in Pulaski, VA.

     He lived in 1841 in Rockingham Co., NC. He was a farmer in 1850. He began military service on May 16, 1864 in Hillsville, Carroll, VA. A Civil War Veteran, he enlisted in the 4th VA Reserves, Co. F as a Private

    SAMUEL ROSEBERRY-Father of John Chester Roseberry; Private, Co. F. Enlisted on May 16, 1864 in Hillsville, VA in Carroll Co. He was assigned to the Provost Guard at Dublin Depot in December of 1864. On December 30, 1864, Samuel was given a 15 day furlough and then on January 15, 1865 it was extended another 15 days.

 

     Children of Samuel4 Roseberry (566) and Agnes Jane Manly (567) (see #9) all born in Carroll Co., VA, were as follows:

                     iii.    Elizabeth (570); born 1849.

                     iv.    Sally (571); born 1851; married John T. Carter (4897) July 7, 1875 in Pulaski Co., VA.

                     v.    William (572); born 1853; married Margaret ? (577) circa 1874.

                     vi.    Andrew (573); born November 22, 1856; married Sarah Clowers (4421) May 11, 1877 in Pulaski Co., VA; died May 26, 1917 in prob. Pulaski Co., VA, at age 60; buried in Mountain View United Methodist Church Cemetery, Pulaski Co., VA.

     He was a farmer in 1877 in Pulaski Co., VA.

                    vii.    Samuel Allen Jr. (574); born December 15, 1858; died February 23, 1944 in prob. Pulaski Co., VA, at age 85; buried in Mountain View United Methodist Church Cemetery, Pulaski Co., VA.

                   viii.    Calvin (575); born March 9, 1859; died 1922 in prob. Pulaski Co., VA; buried in Mountain View United Methodist Church Cemetery, Pulaski Co., VA.

                     ix.    Alexander (576); born November 9, 1861.

9.  Agnes Jane4 MANLY (567); born circa 1819 in NC; married Samuel Roseberry (566) (see #8), son of James Roseberry (581) and (--?--) ? (4332), November 20, 1841 in Rockingham, NC; died after 1870.

10.  Thomas Baker4 KING (589) (Russell, #20); born February 4, 1844 in Pulaski Co., VA; married Mary Jane Rankin (590) (see #11), daughter of James Rankin (614) and Amanda M. Godby (615), December 19, 1866 in Pulaski Co., VA; died October 7, 1918 in Pulaski Co., VA, at age 74.

     In 1867, he was a farmer and lived in Pulaski Co., VA.

     He began military service in 1863.  A Civil War Veteran, he enlisted in the 50th VA Infantry as a Private in Co. I.  Born in Pulaski Co. on Feb. 4, 1844, Thomas King was a laborer, age 16, in 1860.  He enlisted in Dublin, Pulaski Co., VA "in the spring" of 1863 and served two years.  On Feb. 15, 1865, he was detailed "to gather forage for army."  After the war, Thomas King was a farmer.  He was living, age 63 in Pulaski Co., VA on Aug. 12, 1907 and he eventually died there of influenza on Oct. 7, 1918.

     Children of Thomas Baker4 King (589) and Mary Jane Rankin (590) (see #11) were as follows:

                      ii.    William Chapman (591); born December 5, 1868 in Pulaski Co., VA; died July 15, 1961 in prob. Pulaski Co., VA, at age 92, and was buried in the Newbern Community Cemetery, Pulaski Co., VA.

     He lived on November 3, 1954 in Newbern, Pulaski, VA.

                     iv.    Rhoda (593); born February 26, 1879.

                     v.    Fred Hydon (594); born May, 1880.

                     vi.    Edgar Boynton (595); born August 28, 1881.

                    vii.    Ella Howe (596); born March 5, 1883; married ? McCrow (602).

     She lived on November 3, 1954 in Radford, VA.

                   viii.    Bessie Cloyd (597); born March 1, 1885; married ? Robbins (601).

     She lived on November 3, 1954 in Blacksburg, VA.

                     ix.    Mary Jane (598); born October 13, 1886; married ? Roseberry (600).

     She lived on November 3, 1954 in Glen Rock, PA.

                     x.    Walter Wysor (599); born September 5, 1887.

     He lived on November 3, 1954 in Switchback, WVA.

11.  Mary Jane4 RANKIN (590) (James, #22); born after February 12, 1850 in Pulaski Co., VA; married Thomas Baker King (589) (see #10), son of Russell King (603) and Phoebe ? (604), December 19, 1866 in Pulaski Co., VA.
