Philip Keister Will of 1814

 

Philip Kester Will. 

In the name of God Amen, I Philip Kester of the county of Montgomery and state of Virginia, being in perfect soundness of mind and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and Testament.   But first of all I would recommend my soul to God, who gave it, and my body to be buried in decent Christian burial? at the discresion of my executors, and as touching worldly Estate wherewith I have been blessed in this life, I give desire and dispose of in the following manner, that is to say I do give to my son Philip Kister one dollar beside what he has already received and to my son Peter Kester Sixty Dollars excepting what he has rec'd and to my son John Kester I give and bequeath Forty Dollars except what he has rec'd and to my daughter Polly, Bumgardner's wife, Thirty six Dollars excepting what she rec'd and to my daughter Rebeckah, Dedricks wife Seventy Dollars for my boarding and one Dollar out my estate as a legatee.  I lent Peter Dedirick One hundred Dollars 1806 and his son John Dedirick fifty Dollars whereof I bestow him Ten of the balance which is between Peter & John Dedirick his son which is one hundred and forty Dollars to be equally divided among my son Peter, John & Polly, Bumgardner wife, and also, if any of my estate is left after the aforesaid distribution is made and paying my funeral expence, to be equally divided among my two sons, Peter, John, and daughter Polly, and also my clothes to divided among my two sons before named and hereby disallow and revoke all other former wills or Testament by me made.  and I do in confirming this my last will and Testament and no others but my hand and seal to it and do hereby constitute & ordain Jacob Price & Henry D. Price both of the county and State above mentioned as my executors as my last will and Testament of my whole estate, by them personally to act as such the whole of my estate as above directed.  In Testamony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this the fifth day of September in the year of our lord, one thousand and eight hundred and fourteen.

At Montgomery November Court 1814

The last will and Testament of Phiip Keister was presented in court, and proven by the oaths of William Price and Alexander Price, two of the witnesses thereto, and ordered to be recorded.  And on the motion of Jacob Price and Henry D. Price the Executors therein named who made oath thereto, and entered into bond with security conditioned as the law directs, A certificate is granted them for obtaining a probate thereof in due form.
