     He was listed on July 15, 1799 survey as the owner of 100 acres in Montgomery Co., VA.

     Children of Benjamin7 Howell (149) and Elizabeth ? (150) (see #65) were as follows:

                      i.    Daniel6 (151); born 1759 in Philadelphia, PA; married Frances ? (2281) circa 1784; died March 5, 1836 in Floyd County, VA.

                            "DANIEL HOWEL, 37 acres Mill Creek branch of Little River" in 1790 in Botetourt Co., VA.

     He began military service in 1778 in the Revolutionary War.

VIRGINIA SERVICE   OF DANIEL HOWEL OR HOWELL S 13413 ; Page 11---    [born in : Pennsylvania].

     DECLARATION was filed in Floyd County Virginia by Daniel Howell Senr. personlally in said county 21 September 1833 July 13. States that, in his first tour served under Capt. Joshua Wilson of one month- which was an early period of the war Summer of 1778. 2nd tour was within one year after his first--declarant by reason of his great age and time can not recollect than to say that it was the CHEROKEE EXPEDITION and he thinks he left home August following the June in which he recd certificate of discharge - -he returned early in the winter of --- went on 3rd expedition - last tour completed just before the battle of Guilford Court House N C .

He served at least nine months

States he was BORN in Philadelphia Co. Pennsylvania 1759, He removed from his present residence soon or not very long after the revolution, moved, not out his present neighborhood into the adjoining county of PATRICK where he remained about 5 years Then he returned into the county where he now resides -to wit; FLOYD CO. VA

Declaration in Floyd Co Va 1836 June 20, on motion of FRANCES HOWELL widow of Daniel Howell dec'd. That pensioner Daniel Howell died intestate March 5, 1836, that he intermarried with said Frances Howell and she is still  alive. 

It was stated he enlisted from Botetourt Co. Va, that he served on Cherokee Expedition, Reedy Fork of Haw river.

      Benjamin Howell was listed in July 15, 1802 survey as the owner of 40 acres in Montgomery Co., VA. He was a Justice of the Peace before 1853.

      "DANIEL ALLEN, 250 acres Mill Creek, west fork of Little River; 230 acres Mill Creek branch of Little River in 1783" (1782 land records in Botetourt Co., VA).

72.  John7 DUNCAN Sr. (2288) (John, #144); born 1741 in Of Fauquier Co., VA; married Elizabeth Holtzclaw (4923) (see #73), daughter of Johann Holtzclau (4932) and Katherine Thomas Russell (4933), before 1762 in Of Fauquier Co., VA; died 1833 in Floyd Co., VA.

     He began military service in 1761 in Fauquier Co., VA and was a militia member in the French and Indian War. A John Duncan is listed on July 15, 1801 survey as owner of 150 acres in Montgomery Co., VA.

116.  Richard7 HANKS Sr. (229) (William, #232); born August 14, 1723 in Richmond Co., VA; married Mary Hinds (230) (see #117), daughter of James Hinds (280) and Patience ? (281), September 25, 1753 in Dinwiddie Co., VA; died after 1788 probably in NC.

     Children of Richard7 Hanks Sr. (229) and Mary Hinds (230) (see #117) were as follows:

     He was a shoemaker. He lived near Bostic, Rutherford Co., NC.

                      ii.    David (235); born circa 1758; married Elizabeth Hoyle (2056) October 31, 1783 in Lincoln Co., NC.

                     iii.    James (232); born 1759 in Dinwiddie Co., VA; married Mary Starrett (2055) August 26, 1779 in Lincoln Co., NC; died between 1840 and 1850 in Wilkes Co., NC.

    He began military service circa 1779 in the Revolutionary War.

                     v.    Richard II (233); born 1762 in Amelia Co., VA; married Phebe Hayes (2076) October 17, 1785 in Lincoln Co., NC; married Levian Young (2086) March 1, 1821; died before July 22, 1853 in Lincoln Co., NC.

     He began military service in 1778 at Guilford Co., NC in the Revolutionary War.  Volunteered for Rev. War service at the age of  16, from Guilford Co.  N.C. Was sent to suppress Tories; was in the Battle of Guilford C.H., under Capt. Lopp. (Lopp was later a Col. in 1789 he sold land to Felix Hanks). In 1832 Richard applied for a pension and stated he had resided in Linc. Co. N.C. for 40 years. He lived between 1792 and 1832 in Lincoln Co., NC.

                     vi.    Thomas (234); born circa 1763 probably in Amelia Co., VA; married Lucretia Hargrave (2120) March 2, 1789 in Rowan Co., NC; died November 5, 1851 in "in the 88th year of his age."

     He began military service circa 1781 in the Revolutionary War.

                   viii.    Felix (239); born circa 1765 in Amelia Co., VA.

                     ix.    Katy (238); born circa 1766; married John Hammock (2060) March 31, 1791 in Lunenburg Co., Cumberland Parish, VA.

                     x.    Dicey (237); born circa 1778 in Amelia Co., VA; married Zacariah Hampton (2059) December 27, 1803 in Lunenburg Co., Cumberland Parish, VA.
