1.  John1 FERGUSON; born 1799 in VA;[1] married Ann Dowdy, daughter of Ezekiel Dowdy, September 21, 1825 in Franklin Co., VA.[2],[3]

     He was a farmer in 1850 in Monroe Co., WV.[4] He was a farmer with $700 in real estate and $125 in personal property in 1860 in Monroe Co., WV.[5] He was a farmer in 1880 in Monroe Co., WV.[6]

 

     Ann DOWDY was born in 1802 in VA.[7]

     Children of John1 Ferguson and Ann Dowdy were as follows:

              2.          i.     Wiley R.2 Ferguson; born 1826 in Franklin Co., VA;[8],[9] married Nancy J. Foster, daughter of Madison Foster and Catherine Filenger, January 8, 1857 in Monroe Co., VA; A troublesome marriage record.  Wiley's parents are given as John and Nancy instead of John and Ann.  Nancy J. Foster's parents are Madison Foster and Katherine Fillenger yet the census records don't list a Nancy J. as a daughter of Madison and Katherine.[10]

     He was a laborer living with his parents in 1850 in Monroe Co., WV.[11]

              3.          ii.     Cynthia E. Ferguson; born 1829 in VA.[12]

+            4.        iii.     Eli Ferguson, born 1831 in VA; married Elizabeth (--?--).

              5.         iv.     Catherine Ferguson; born 1833 in VA.[13]

              6.         v.     Frances Ferguson; born 1835 in VA.[14]

              7.         vi.     Sarah Ferguson; born 1837 in Bedford Co., VA;[15],[16] married Peter Himucks December 20, 1857 in Monroe Co., VA.[17]    

              8.       vii.     Elizabeth M. Ferguson "Betsy;" born 1840 in Franklin Co., VA;[18],[19] married John L. Wills July 30, 1856 in Monroe Co., VA.[20]    

+            9.       viii.     Ann R. Ferguson, born March 14, 1843 in Franklin Co., VA; married John Foster.

            10.         ix.     Susanna Ferguson; born 1844 in VA.[21]

+          11.         x.     John O. Ferguson, born 1849 in VA; married Mary (--?--).

4.  Eli2 FERGUSON (John1); born 1831 in VA;[22] married Elizabeth (--?--) circa 1858.[23]

     He was a laborer living with his father in 1850 in Monroe Co., WV.[24] He was a day laborer with $50 in personal property in 1860 in Monroe Co., WV.[25] He lived in 1870 in Peterstown, Monroe Co., WV.[26]

 

     Elizabeth (--?--) was born in 1834.[27]

     Children of Eli2 Ferguson and Elizabeth (--?--) were as follows:

            12.          i.     Malvina3 Ferguson; born 1859 in Monroe Co., WV.[28]

     She lived in 1870 in Peterstown, Monroe Co., WV with Christopher W. Crotty and family who are listed just before the John Ferguson family and Eli Ferguson family in the census.[29]

            13.          ii.     Paulina Victoria Ferguson; born 1861.[30]

            14.        iii.     William A. Ferguson; born 1863.[31]

            15.         iv.     James A. Ferguson; born 1865.[32]

            16.         v.     Marshall A. Ferguson; born 1867.[33]

            17.         vi.     Kenny J. Ferguson; born 1871.[34]

            18.       vii.     Lizzie M. Ferguson; born 1877.[35]

 

 

9.  Ann R.2 FERGUSON (John1) "Ann Roe;" born March 14, 1843 in Franklin Co., VA;[36],[37] married John Foster, son of Madison Foster and Catherine Filenger, August 2, 1866 in Monroe Co., WV;[38] died October 12, 1904 at age 61; buried in Central Cemetery in Radford, VA.[39]

    

     John FOSTER was born on February 20, 1844 in VA.[40],[41] He was a farm laborer, living with his father in 1860 in Red Sulphur District, Peterstown, VA.[42] He was a carpenter in 1870 in Red Sulphur District, Peterstown, WV.[43] He lived in 1880 in Red Sulphur District, Peterstown, WV.[44] He was a carpenter in 1900 in Radford, VA.[45] He died on January 13, 1919 at age 74; buried in Central Cemetery in Radford, VA.[46]  For more on this family see the Foster section.

    

 

11.  John O.2 FERGUSON (John1); born 1849 in VA;[47] married Mary (--?--) circa 1872.[48]

 

     Mary (--?--) was born in 1847 in WV.[49]

     Children of John O.2 Ferguson and Mary (--?--) were as follows:

            26.          i.     Samuel3 Ferguson; born 1873 in VA.[50]

            27.          ii.     Sally Ferguson; born 1873 in VA.[51]
