8.  Jacob SHELL Jr. (402); born 1752;[1] married Mary Burk (403), daughter of Joseph Burk (436) and Margaret Grant (437), December 28, 1787 in Montgomery County, VA;[2],[3] died of  consumption in 1812 in Montgomery County, VA.[4]

     He was a farmer. He is found in the Montgomery Co., VA land records, "1787, JACOB SHELL, JR., 464 acres east side of New River on both sides of mouth of Fishing Run, part of two entries, one a certificate of settlement from the Commissioners, and other Treasury Warrant, 1787, land corner to Edward Billups; 1798, 555 acres inclusive survey, and 370 acres Strouble's Creek, parts made up from Treasury Warrants."[5]

     He lived on October 26, 1798 in Montgomery Co., VA.  Jacob Shell is mentioned as a neighbor in the will of William Bales.  This could refer to his father.[6]

     On July 15, 1799 in Montgomery Co., VA, he is also listed in survey as owner of 370 acres.  A second listing is "Jacob Shell, inclusive" for 555 acres.  There is no way to distinguish which Jacob is referred to, father or son .”[7]       

     Jacob "Shull" was named as one individual taking inventory of Adam Wall estate in September, 1799 in Montgomery Co., VA.[8]

     He was listed as buyer in Philip Barger sale of estate on October 21, 1802 in Montgomery Co., VA.[9]

     He was listed as owner of 100 acres on July 15, 1804 in Montgomery Co., VA.[10]

     He was listed in the Thomas Watkins, Sr. Appraisal; S= his mark on August 13, 1808 in Montgomery Co., VA.[11]

 

     Mary BURK (403)[12] was also known as Mary "Polly" Burke. She was born circa 1770.

     Children of Jacob Shell Jr. (402) and Mary Burk (403) were as follows:

            18.         vi.       Margaret "Peggy"  (409); born circa 1795; married Henry Linkous (411) March 4, 1823 in Montgomery Co., VA.[17]

            19.       vii.       Elizabeth "Betsy" (407); born 1801;[18] married Jacob Tabor (413) 1816 in Montgomery Co., VA.

11.  John SHELL (422); born circa 1760; married Margaret Havens (423) January 4, 1786 in Montgomery County, VA;[19] died 1809 in Montgomery Co., VA.[20]

            “1786  Jan 4, JOHN SHELL and MARGARET HEAVINS, sur Jacob Shell, Senior.”    

     John Shell was listed as a juror in settlement of road on April 23, 1802 in Montgomery Co., VA.[21]

     He left a will in July, 1809 in Montgomery Co., VA.[22]

     Margaret HAVENS (423) was born circa 1760. She lived in 1816 in Miami Co., OH.[23]

     Children of John Shell (422) and Margaret Havens (423) were as follows:

            21.          i.       John (4848); born circa 1787;[24] married Elizabeth Shufflebarger (4857) October 21, 1811 in Montgomery Co., VA.[25],[26]

He lived on October 29, 1809 in Ohio.[27]

            28.       viii.       Caty (4855); born circa 1792.[38]

            29.         ix.       Elizabeth (4858); born circa 1792;[39] married Jacob Mann (4859) circa 1815.[40]

     She lived in 1816 in Miami Co., OH.[41]

            30.          x.      Mary (4860); born circa 1792;[42] married George Lowthain (4861) circa 1815.[43]
