3.  Charlotte PRATT (2284); born January 25, 1803 in Floyd County, VA; married David A. Howell (119), son of David Howell Sr. (130) and Jane Allen (131), August 6, 1822 in Montgomery Co., VA;[1] died June 7, 1874 in Floyd County, VA, at age 71.[2]

 

     David A. HOWELL (119) was born on January 5, 1801 in Floyd County, VA. He was a farmer in 1850 in Floyd Co., VA.[3] He died on January 18, 1887 in Floyd County, VA, at age 86. Cause of death was "old age."  Burial in Duncan Cemetery, Willis, Floyd Co., VA.[4]  For more on this family see the Howell chapter.    

 

 

4.  John PRATT (315); born 1807 in Floyd County, VA;[5] married Agnes ? (316) circa 1832; died January 22, 1872 in Floyd Co., VA. Cause of death was malignant tumor.[6]

     He was a farmer in 1850 in Floyd Co., VA.[7]

 

     Agnes ? (316) was born in 1803 in Floyd County, VA.[8]

     Children of John Pratt (315) and Agnes ? (316) all born in Floyd County, VA, were as follows:

+       14.        i.    Ishmael (311), born December 25, 1832; married Martha Jane Howell (312).

         15.        ii.    Myram (317); born 1834.[9]

         16.      iii.    Silas (318); born 1837;[10] died December 26, 1861 in Prestonsburg, KY while in military.[11]

     He began military service on October 9, 1861 in Jacksonville, VA.  A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in the 54th VA INF, Co. D.  His service record follows.

SILAS PRATT

     Co. D.  Enlisted on 10/9/1861 in Jacksonville.  Died in Prestonsburg, KY on 12/26/1861. Resident of Floyd Co., VA.[12]

         17.       iv.    Juda (319); born 1839.[13]

         18.       v.    Jessee (321); born September 21, 1840; married Susan J. E. Bolling (5571) circa 1870; died November 29, 1911 at age 71. Buried in Slaughter Cemetery, Floyd Co., VA.[14]

     He began military service on October 9, 1861 in Floyd C. H., Floyd Co., VA.  A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in the 54th VA INF, Co. D.  His service record follows.

JESSE PRATT

     Co. D, Enlisted on 10/9/61 at Floyd C. H.

     Detached Duty on 1/1/62.  Detailed as regimental wagoner on 11/23/63. 

     Deserted and took oath on 8/22/64.  He was a resident of Floyd Co., fair complexion, dark hair, black eyes, 5'11", released north of the Ohio River.  Post-war record indicates that he was disloyal.

      Born 9/21/1840.  Died 11/29/1911, buried in the Slaughter Cemetery, Conners Grove, Floyd Co., VA.[15]

         19.       vi.    Minena (320); born 1842.[16]

         20.     vii.    Noah F. (322); born 1845;[17] died February 1, 1861 in Floyd Co., VA. Cause of death was fever.  Age given as 18.[18]

         21.     viii.    Margaret (323); born 1847.[19]

 

 

5.  Jesse PRATT (5558); born August 3, 1812 in Floyd Co., VA;[20] married Barbara Eleanor Simmons (5559) circa 1835; married Mary Jane ? (5563) circa 1865; died December 5, 1882 at age 70. Buried in Jesse Pratt cemetery in Floyd Co., VA.[21],[22]

     He was a farmer with $100 in real estate in 1850 in Floyd Co., VA.[23]

 

     Barbara Eleanor SIMMONS (5559) was born in 1816 in Floyd Co., VA. She died on October 27, 1862 in Floyd Co., VA. Buried in Jesse Pratt cemetery in Floyd Co., VA.  Cause of death was diphtheria epidemic.[24],[25]

     Children of Jesse Pratt (5558) and Barbara Eleanor Simmons (5559) were as follows:

         23.        ii.    Elizabeth (5569); born 1839 in Floyd Co., VA.[27]

         26.       v.    Martha (5570); born 1843 in Carroll Co., VA.[30]

         27.       vi.    Luanna (5568); born 1844 in Floyd Co., VA.[31]

         28.     vii.    Nancy (5562); born 1848; died October 3, 1862 in Floyd Co., VA. Buried in Jesse Pratt cemetery in Floyd Co., VA.  Cause of death was diphtheria epidemic.[32],[33]

         29.     viii.    Cary (5560); born 1849; died October 10, 1862 in Floyd Co., VA. Buried in Jesse Pratt cemetery in Floyd Co., VA.  Cause of death was diphtheria epidemic.[34],[35]

         30.       ix.    Catherine (5561); born 1852; died October 24, 1862 in Floyd Co., VA. Buried in Jesse Pratt cemetery in Floyd Co., VA.  Cause of death was diphtheria epidemic.[36],[37]

 

     Mary Jane ? (5563) was born circa 1815.[38]

     Children of Jesse Pratt (5558) and Mary Jane ? (5563) were:

         31.        i.    Solomon (5564); born February 6, 1867; died June 28, 1871 in Floyd Co., VA, at age 4. Buried in Jesse Pratt cemetery in Floyd Co., VA.  Cause of death was "drowned".[39],[40]
