15.  Peter DUNCAN (5402); born 1803 in Floyd Co., VA;[1] married Vila ? (5447) circa 1830 probably in Floyd Co., VA;[2] died December 29, 1866 in Floyd Co., VA; cause of death was "disease of heart."[3]

     He was a farmer with $1000 in real estate in 1850.[4] He was a farmer with $1500 in real estate and $150 in personal property in 1860 in Floyd Co., VA.[5]

 

     Vila ? (5447) was born in 1810 in Floyd Co., VA.[6]

     Children of Peter Duncan (5402) and Vila ? (5447) were as follows:

         41.        i.    Luke (5448); born 1831 in Floyd Co., VA.[7]

         42.        ii.    Lawyer C. (5449); born September 12, 1833 in Floyd Co., VA;[8] married M. J. ? (5552) circa 1858;[9] died November 29, 1903, at age 70, and buried in the Duncan Cemetery in Willis (Duncan), Floyd Co., VA.[10]

         43.      iii.    Jackson “Jack” A. (5450); born 1838 in Floyd Co., VA.[11]

     He was a farmer, living with his father, Peter Duncan, with $850 in real estate and $284 in personal property in 1860 in Floyd Co., VA.[12]

         44.       iv.    Abel (5451); born 1838 in Floyd Co., VA;[13] married Mary F. ? (5555) circa 1863;[14] died 1894 and buried in Floyd Co., VA..[15]

     He was a farmer, living with his father, Peter Duncan, with $850 in real estate and $284 in personal property in 1860 in Floyd Co., VA.[16]

         45.       v.    Mahala (5452); born 1843 in Floyd Co., VA;[17] married Caleb Lovel (5503) October 14, 1862 in Floyd Co., VA.[18]

         48.     viii.    Peter (5455); born 1850 in Floyd Co., VA;[21] died August 29, 1854 in Floyd Co., VA; the cause of death was flux.[22]

         49.       ix.    Vila (5490); born 1856 in VA.[23]

 

 

17.  Abel DUNCAN (4920); born circa 1807 in Montgomery Co., VA;[24] married Mary Bird (5434) April 13, 1834 in Floyd Co., VA.[25]

 

     Mary “Polly” BIRD (5434) was born in 1816 in VA.[26]

     Children of Abel Duncan (4920) and Mary Bird (5434) all born in Floyd Co., VA, were as follows:

         50.        i.    John (5435); born 1835.[27]

         51.        ii.    Peter (5436); born 1837.[28]

         52.      iii.    Nancy (5437); born 1839.[29]

         53.       iv.    Benjamin Augustas (5438); born 1841;[30] married Jemima Ann Austin Powers (5442) August 2, 1871 in Point Pleasant, Mason Co., WV;[31] died September 22, 1909 in Ambrosia, Mason Co., WV.[32]

     He began military service on August 15, 1862 in Point Pleasant, Mason Co., WV.  He was a Civil War Veteran, enlisting in the 13th WV Volunteer Infantry, Co. C.[33] He ended military service on June 22, 1865 at Wheeling, WV where he mustered out as a private.[34]
