2.  John C. SUTTON (628);[1] born July 20, 1838 in Newbern, Pulaski Co., VA;[2] married Elizabeth J. Gunn (629), daughter of John C. Gunn (642) and Elizabeth Owens (643), September 26, 1860 in Pulaski Co., VA;[3] died April 27, 1893 in Pulaski Co., VA, at age 54[4] and was buried in the Newbern Community Cemetery, Pulaski Co., VA.[5]

     John lived with his mother, Eliza Sutton, in 1860 in Pulaski Co., VA.[6] He was a farmer in 1860 and 1870 in Pulaski Co., VA.[7],[8],[9]  He began military service before April 24, 1864 probably in Newbern, Pulaski Co., VA.  A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in the 50th VA INF, Co. I.  His service record follows. 

     Sutton, John C.: Sgt., Co. I.  In the1860 census John Sutton was living, age 21, in Pulaski Co., VA.  He enlisted by April 24, 1864 when he deserted to the enemy (2 US Corps).  John took the oath in Washington, D.C. on April 27, 1864 and was furnished transportation to Philadelphia, PA.[10] He lived in 1870 in Dublin, Pulaski Co., VA.[11]

 

     Elizabeth J. GUNN (629)[12] was born on January 28, 1842. She died on June 5, 1911 at age 69.

     Children of John C. Sutton (628) and Elizabeth J. Gunn (629) all born in Newbern, Pulaski Co., VA, were as follows:

         11.        i.    Samuel G. (630);[13],[14] born 1861;[15] married Virginia A. (--?--) (4416) between 1888 and 1898;[16] died 1948 in Pulaski Co., VA;[17] buried 1948 in Newbern Community Cemetery, Pulaski Co., VA.[18]

+       12.       ii.    William Kirby (624), born April 29, 1866; married Sarah Jane King (625).

         13.     iii.    Walter E. (631);[19] born April 24, 1867;[20] born January 4, 1868;[21] died February 7, 1885 in Pulaski Co., VA, at age 17;[22] buried in Newbern Community Cemetery, Pulaski Co., VA.[23]

 

 

7.  George W. SUTTON (638);[24] born March 24, 1847 in Pulaski Co., VA;[25] married Margaret Ann Webb (4491) April 30, 1878 in Pulaski Co., VA;[26] died April 5, 1919 in prob. Pulaski Co., VA, at age 72;[27] buried after April 5, 1919 in Hickman Cemetery, Pulaski Co., VA.[28]

     He was a farm laborer living with his mother, Eliza, and listed with $2600 in real estate in 1870 in Dublin, Pulaski Co., VA.[29] He was a bricklayer on April 30, 1878 in Pulaski Co., VA.[30]

     The 1850 Pulaski Co., VA Census lists George W. Sutton's parents, John and Eliza (#310/318), right after Margie Webb's parents, George and Mary (#309/317).  George W. Sutton and Margie Webb apparently grew up on neighboring farms from at least the time they were 3 and 2.

 

     Margaret Ann WEBB (4491) was born in 1848 in Pulaski Co., VA.[31],[32] She died on December 22, 1906[33] and was buried in Hickman Cemetery, Pulaski Co., VA.[34]

     Children of George W. Sutton (638) and Margaret Ann Webb (4491) were as follows:

         14.        i.    Webb D. (4492); born July 31, 1879;[35] married Nanye Bishop (4493) circa 1905;[36] died 1948.[37]

         15.       ii.    Mary Eliza (4494); born October 2, 1880;[38] married Monta E. Hyder (4495) circa 1905.[39]

         16.     iii.    George Mack (4496); born August 1, 1884;[40] married Nellie Eiffert (4497) circa 1910.[41]

         17.      iv.    Frank Emerson (4498); born March 7, 1886;[42] died April 18, 1943 in NM at age 57.[43]

         18.       v.    Charles Everett (4499);[44],[45] born August 14, 1889 in VA;[46],[47] married Lucy Grogg (4500) circa 1920;[48] died September, 1980 in Dublin, Pulaski Co., VA, at age 91.[49],[50]

     His Social Security information was: Sutton, Charles (Aug. 14, 1889-Sep. 1980), issued in VA. Residence in VA.  Last known residence was Dublin, VA.  Address where death benefit payment was sent was Radford, VA after September, 1980.[51]

         19.      vi.    Margaret Ethel (4501); born November 4, 1891;[52] married S. T. Snead (4502) circa 1915;[53] married R. M. Jones (4503) after 1915.[54]

12.  William Kirby SUTTON (624);[55] born April 29, 1866 in Newbern, Pulaski Co., VA;[56] married Sarah Jane King (625), daughter of William M. King (644) and Eva C. Shufflebarger (645), 1887; died July 28, 1941 at age 75.

     Sarah Jane KING (625) was born on October 4, 1865 in Pulaski Co., VA.[57] She died on March 27, 1951 at age 85.

     Children of William Kirby Sutton (624) and Sarah Jane King (625) were as follows:

         20.        i.    John William (626); born April 4, 1889 in VA;[58] married Maggie A. ? (627) circa 1920; died October, 1974 in New River, VA, at age 85.[59]

     He lived in VA.[60] His Social Security information was: Sutton, John (Apr 4, 1889-Oct 1974) issued in Virginia.  Residence in Virgina and last known residence associated with New River, Virginia.[61]
