11.  Nancy3 HOWELL (David2, Joshua1); born circa 1789 in Montgomery Co., VA;[1] married Isham Rigney December 22, 1808 in VA.[2]

 

     Isham RIGNEY was born circa 1795. He died before March 15, 1854.[3]

     Children of Nancy3 Howell and David Rigney were as follows:

            17.          i.     Jincy4; born September 11, 1809.[4]

            18.          ii.     Andrew; born October 2, 1811.[5]

            19.        iii.     David; born October 11, 1813.[6]

     A site visitor, Dusty Smith, has corrected and given more details on this family based on a Carroll Co., VA widows pension file.  He has been researching the Rigney family and can be contacted at [email protected].

 

 

13.  Isaac3 HOWELL (David2, Joshua1);[7] born 1807 in Floyd Co., VA;[8] married ? Thomas circa 1825.

     He was a carpenter in 1850 in Floyd Co., VA.[9]

 

     ? THOMAS[10] was born circa 1810.

     Children of Isaac3 Howell and ? Thomas all born in Floyd Co., VA, were as follows:

+          20.          i.     Lorenzo Dow4, born 1826; married Mary McDaniel.

            21.          ii.     Caroline; born 1830;[11] married Clark Pugh December 17, 1851 in Floyd Co., VA.[12]

            22.        iii.     Rutherford A.; born 1834; [13] married Susan Pugh September 19, 1854 in Floyd Co., VA.[14]

     A Civil War Veteran, he began military service on April 6, 1863 in Floyd Court-House, Floyd Co., VA.  Conscripted in 24th VA INF, Co. A.

     He was 28 and a carpenter when conscripted.

     He was admitted to Chimborazo Hospital on Sep. 28, 1861 (3?) with debility and furloughed Oct. 13, 1861 (3?).  He was then detailed for light duty in Floyd in Feb. 1864 and discharged from service in Oct. 1864.  His records list him as born in Floyd Co., VA and describe him as 5'11" with a fair complexion, grey eyes and light hair.[15]

            23.         iv.     Octavia; born 1839; [16] married Andrew J. Earls January 17, 1857 in Floyd Co., VA.[17]

            24.         v.     Dillard C.; born 1841.[18]

     A Civil War Veteran, he began military service in the 24th VA INF on March 14, 1862 in Floyd Court-House, Floyd Co., VA.

     Dillard was 20 when he enlisted in Co. A.  He deserted on Feb. 20, 1863 but was arrested on Feb. 25, 1863.  Dillard was captured at Burkeville on April 6, 1865 and released from Point Lookout, MD on June 13, 1865.

     The Point Lookout prisoner of war camp listed Dillard as 5'10" with a fair complexion, light hair and grey eyes. Residence Floyd Co.[19]

Census, p. 895, #982/20.  This is conjecture.  The only Caroline Howell in the 1850 Floyd Census is listed as living with Beauford Howell.  She is however too old to be his daughter and his wife Susannah is still living.  The listed age of 20 is the correct. time to possibly the  birth date of this Caroline.
