60.  Lee Swanson5 BURNOP (Richard4, James3, Richard2, Jacob1) was born July 3, 1913 in Atkins, Smyth Co., VA[1] and married Vivian Harris circa 1940.[2] Lee died February 20, 1999 in Smyth Co., VA, at age 85 and is buried in Rose Lawn Cemetery.[3],[4]

     He lived on February 3, 1997 in Marion, Smyth Co., VA.[5],[6]

     Obituary: Lee S. Burnop, age 85, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999 in Smyth County Community Hospital.

     Mr. Burnop was employed at Virginia Lincoln Furniture Factory, was co-owner and operator of B.H. Garage and was a building contractor until his retirement.

     He is survived by his wife, Vivian Harris Burnop of Marion; one daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Jim Phillips of Abingdon; one son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Charlene Burnop, Marion; two sisters, Helen Harris of Palmdale, Calif., and Elva Greer of Rock Falls, Ill.; three grandchildren, Lesa Phillips Brame of Rocky Mount, N.C., Scott Burnop of Philadelphia, Penn., and Leanne Burnop of Roanoke.

     Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 11 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Neville Mozingo and Dr. William A. Slater officiating. Burial followed in Rose Lawn Cemetery.

     Seaver-Brown Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.[7]

     Vivian HARRIS was born circa 1915.[8]

 

 

 

61.  Carl Clifton5 BURNOP (Richard4, James3, Richard2, Jacob1) was born September 14, 1915 in Atkins, Smyth Co., VA[9] and married Virginia Fay Warren November 26, 1938 in Marion, Smyth Co., VA (ceremony by W. H. Carter).[10]  Carl died February 3, 1997 in Smyth Co. Community Hospital, Marion, Smyth Co., VA, at age 81 and is buried in Roselawn Cemetery in Smyth Co., VA.[11],[12],[13]

     His Social Security Number information was issued in OH before 1951.  Residence and last benefit associated with Marion, Smyth Co., VA.[14]

     Obituary: Carl C. Burnop, age 81, died Monday, Feb 3, 1997, in Smyth County Community Hospital.

     He is survived by his wife, Faye Warren Burnop of Marion; one daughter and son-in-law, Juanita and William Jones of Kiawah Island, SC; two sisters, Helen Harris of Marion and Elva Greer of Rock Falls, Ill.; one brother, Lee Burnop of Marion; two grandchildren, Chad H. Groseclose and Jason G. Groseclose, both of Charleston, SC; several nieces and nephews.

     Funeral services will be held today, Feb. 5, at 11 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Weston B. Guthrie officiating.  Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery.

     Seaver-Brown Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.[15]

     Carl was a laborer on November 26, 1938 in Marion, Smyth Co., VA.[16] He lived on November 16, 1996 in Marion, Smyth Co., VA.[17]

     Virginia Fay WARREN, daughter of Henry and Margie Call Warren, was born in 1915 in Grayson Co., VA.[18] She lived on February 3, 1997 in Marion, Smyth Co., VA.[19]

     

 

 

63.  Fred Eugene5 BURNOP (Richard4, James3, Richard2, Jacob1) was born February 7, 1924 in VA[20] and died November 16, 1996 in the Mountain Home VA Center in Johnson City, TN, at age 72.[21]

     Obituary: Fred Eugene Burnop, age 72, died Saturday, Nov 16, 1996 at the Mountain Home VA Center, Johnson City, Tenn.

     He was a native of Atkins and was the son of the late Henry Richard and Mary Caudle Burnop.  He was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Army and Air Force. 

     Surviving are one son, the Rev. David Burnop of Plumtree, N. C.; two sisters Helen Harris of Marion, and Elva Greer of Rock Fall, Ill; two brothers, Carl Burnop and Lee Burnop, both of Marion, three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

     Funeral services were conducted at 2 p. m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at the Grandfather Chapel of Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Greene officiating.  Interment followed in the Cranberry Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Society of America, 2900 Eisenhower Ave., Suite 419, Alexandria, VA 22314.

     Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Newland, N. C. was in charge of arrangements.[22] His Social Security Number information was issued in VA.  Residence in Mountain Home, Washington, TN.[23] He began military service circa 1942 WW II Veteran of the US Army and Air Force.[24]
