     He was a farmer (with $2875 in real estate and $848 in personal property in 1860) between 1850 and 1860 in Floyd Co., VA.[5],[6]

 

     Jane WEEKS; daughter of Elijah Weeks was born on May 6, 1806 in Bedford Co., VA.[7],[8] She died on January 9, 1892 at age 85.[9]

     He began military service on October 1, 1861 in Jacksonville, Floyd Co., VA, when he enlisted in Co. D of the 54th VA INF.  He was a 3rd Corporal.  Allen was present on Jan 1, 1862 muster roll.  He deserted on Jul 21, 1863 at Zollicoffer, TN and took the oath of allegiance at Knoxville, TN on April 17, 1865.  Allen was described as 5'8" with a fair complexion, dark hair and blue eyes.  He was a resident of Floyd Co., VA.[13]

45.  Alexander5 WEDDLE (David4, Benjamin3, Martin2, Michael1); born December 15, 1826 in West Fork, Little River, Montgomery Co., VA; married Susanna Weddle October 26, 1847 in Floyd Co., VA; married Kitturah Mitchell September 1, 1885 in Carroll Co., VA; ceremony Rev. Lee C. Brown; died July 3, 1908 in Floyd Co., VA, at age 81; buried in Weddle Cemetery in Floyd Co., VA. [33]

     He was a teacher in the Jacksonville School District; Justice of the Peace for several terms of office in Floyd Co., VA. He was member of the Dunkard Church.[34]

     Obituary: “Alexander Weddle, a highly respected old gentleman, near Tobeco, died Tuesday evening at 7 o'clock, at the age of nearly 82 years.  Mr. Weddle had been in declining health for several months and gradually grew worse until the end came.  His death was due to old age and a complication of diseases.  He was one of our most influential citizens and was a  man with fine judgment.  He was elected a Justice of this District for several terms.  He was a member of the Dunkard Church and had been for a number of years.  He was married twice and leaves his second wife and a number of children to mourn his death.  His funeral was preached yesterday afternoon at 4 O'clock by Rev. Harris, of the Presbyterian Church and was buried immediately afterwards in the family burying grounds.  We extend our deepest sympathy to the bereaved relatives.”[35]

     He was a shoemaker in 1850 in Floyd Co., VA but listed as a farmer between 1855 and 1866 in Floyd Co., VA. [36],[37] He began military service on March 24, 1862 in Abingdon, VA, when he enlisted in Co. D. of the 54th VA INF.  Alexander was present on Dec 31, 1863 muster roll.  He deserted and took the oath of allegiance at Chattanooga, TN on June 20, 1864.  He was sent north of the Ohio River.  At this time he was described as 5'7" with a dark complexion and black eyes.  His postwar record indicates that he was disloyal.  Alexander was a resident of Floyd Co., born in 1826 and died in 1908.  He is buried in the Weddle Cemetery in Floyd Court House, Floyd Co., VA.[38]

     His home was destroyed by fire that originated in the kitchen on March 18, 1885 in Floyd Co., VA.[39]

 

     Susanna WEDDLE; daughter of Samuel Weddle was born on January 26, 1827 in Montgomery Co., VA.[40] She died on April 11, 1884 in Floyd Co., VA, at age 57; buried Apr 13, 1884 in Weddle Cemetery in Floyd Co., VA.[41]

     Kitturah MITCHELL was born on August 16, 1837 in Carroll Co., VA.[67] She died on November 6, 1927 in Carroll Co., VA, at age 90.[68]

46.  Ira5 WEDDLE (David4, Benjamin3, Martin2, Michael1); Ira was a twin; born 1829 in Montgomery Co., VA;[69] married Nancy Thompson before 1850;[70] married Susan Jane Lancaster circa 1859.[71]

     He was a farmer (with $800 in real estate and $92 in personal property in 1860) between 1860 and 1868 in Floyd Co., VA.[72],[73],[74] He began military service on October 1, 1861 in Jacksonville, Floyd Co., VA, when he enlisted in Co. D of the 54th VA INF.  He was present on the Jan 1, 1862 and Dec 31, 1863 muster rolls before deserting and taking the oath of allegiance at Chattanooga, TN on Jun 20, 1864.  A resident of Floyd Co., VA, Ira was described as 5'8" with a dark complexion, gray hair and black eyes.  His postwar record indicates that he was disloyal.[75]

 

     Nancy THOMPSON; daughter of Elisha & N. Thompson was born in 1825 in Floyd Co., VA.[76] She died on July 10, 1854 in Floyd Co., VA; cause of death was fever.[77]

     He was a farmer between 1859 and 1864 in Floyd Co., VA.[99] He began military service on October 1, 1861 in Jacksonville, Floyd Co., VA, when he enlisted in Co. D. of the 54th VA INF.  Simon was present on the Jan 1, 1862 muster roll as a 1st Corporal and present on the Dec 31, 1863 muster roll as 1st Sergeant before being elected 2nd Lieutenant on Mar 30, 1864.  He deserted and on Jun 20, 1864 took the oath of allegiance at Chattanooga, TN.  He was described as 5'9" with a dark complexion and hair and blue eyes.  His postwar record indicates he was disloyal.  Originally a resident of Floyd Co., VA, he was living in Brownsburg, IN in 1922 at age 91.[100]

Weddle buried in Grave No. 77, Confederate section, Emery and Henry Cemetery in Washington Co., VA.[124]
