The King Family History
There are two King family branches in the family
history. They may be interrelated but
this is unknown.
This is William M. King (1839-1915) and
his wife Eva C. Shufflebarger (1843-1915).
William M. King was a Civil War Veteran of the 50th VA
INF. He was wounded in action at
Fisher’s Hill on Sep. 22, 1861 causing the amputation of his left arm.
He died of an apparent heart attack in 1915 and his obituary was tactfully titled by the
newspaper “WILLIAM KING DROPS DEAD.”
A very rough estimate of the date is 1890-1900.
This is William Kirby Sutton (1866-1941) and his
wife Sarah Jane King (1865-1951). They
were both born and lived their entire lives in Pulaski Co., VA.
With them is their son John William Sutton
(1889-1874) and daughter Elizabeth Clarey Sutton (1892-1973). From the children it is possible to date
this photo as app. 1893.
