The Schreyer family is an offshoot
of the Keister family. We only know of
Elizabeth from the marriage records which show that Lewis Schreyer gave his
consent and Susan Schreyer was the witness.
These are probably her parents but this is not certain as there are
other possibilities.
The 2 generations we have are from the Revolutionary War period of
America’s history. This family is
another of the early settlers of the Shenendoah Valley which indicates they may
have come from Pennsylvania as this was a common route of the time. Whereas coastal Virginia was settled in the
17th century, the mountainous western Virginia was not settled until the mid 18th
century (beginning in app. the 1740s).
