The Solbach Family History

 

From Ancestry and Descendants of the Nassau-Siegen Immigrants to Virginia, 1714-1750

The name of the family originated from the estate of Sohlbach in the Klafeld township, which belonged to the noble family, von der Hees, but was later divided and sold to the inhabitants of Klafeld (K 43). The first known ancestor of the family was probably Hans Salbach (b. probably ca. 1530), shown in 1566 as a member of the Shoemakers and Tanners Guild at Siegen.
