*Interpretation-John W. Vaughn married Margaret J. in app. 1848 and Olly M. is their son.

Annotated-John (1793-1876) married Ruth Hanks in 1815. She was the daughter of Joshua and Ruth (Bryant) Hanks, raised on Cole Creek. John bought the old Davis farm on Chestnut Creek but eventually came to live on Bobbitts Creek, east of the airport. He was one of the original Justices of the Carroll County Court and died here in 1876. Ruth born in 1797, died in 1879.

            Annotated-Elisha (1819-1882) was the son of John and Ruth (Hanks) Vaughan. He married in 1845 Lydia Coulson, daughter of John and Lydia Coulson. He acquired some land on Bobbitts Creek and made a first rate farm from it. He was also active in county affairs. Lydia died in 1873.
