30 April, 2007 Ruby, Roy's sister related this story as follows: Roy was young and wanted to go to Mt Calm with Uncle Spake's family to pick cotton. After a while, he got homesick, so he wrote a letter to his mom wanting to come home. Ruby remembers her mother crying when she read the letter. Uncle Spake took Roy to Waco to catch a train going to Tyler where their dad went and picked him up.
