- Family: I'd written his sister, Odell about Leon's military service, this is her reply, Jul 2007. 10 YES, I REMEMBER WHEN LEON WENT IN. I THINK IT WAS BEFORE 12/7/41. I REMEMBER WE WERE LIVING IN A LITTLE HOUSE ACROSS THE ST. FROM MYRTLE & RAY ON THAT DAY. I WAS VERY WORRIED BECAUSE OF LEON. LEON WORKED AT A C.C.C. CAMP BEFORE THAT, SO THAT MAY BE A CONNECTION?? HE WAS STATIONED IN CA (SACRAMENTO, I THINK?). HE WAS A CHEF. THAT'S WHERE HE MET & MARRIED HELEN.
Leon married Helen RHODES. (Helen RHODES died in , , South Dakota, USA.)
Leon next married Audrey Jean TURK on 28 Oct 1948 in Mineola, Wood, Texas, USA.1 (Audrey Jean TURK was born on 2 May 1926 in Rapidan, Minnesota (Possibly Garden City, Minnesota), died on 16 Jul 1994 in Tyler, Smith County, Texas, USA and was buried in Cedars Memorial Gardens, Mineola, Wood, Texas, USA.)
Marriage Notes:
Audrey's family lived in Mineola near Smith County, so apparently the license was from Smith County, which was his residence, but they married in Mineola, Wood County, Texas.
Their license was recorded on 4 Nov 1948 in Volume 46, page 33 of the Smith County Marriage Records. Officiator - N. B. Crawford
