Description:
This microfilm publication reproduces an alphabetical card index to the compiled service records of Confederate soldiers. This consolidated, or master, index contains all the names of Confederate soldiers found in the records used in compiling the service records, regardless of whether the service was with a unit furnished by a particular state, with a unit raised directly by the Confederate Government, or as a staff officer.
Note: Confederate pensions were granted
by Southern states after the war, and the files are state, not federal,
