Francis Tate[1] born ? in Ireland died abt 1808 Kentucky (am assuming it is either Bourbon or Nicholas Co.)
He married 2 Nov 1795 Bourbon Co. Kentucky to spouse: Mary Helmic/Hilmack who was born before 1775, Germany or PA died 14 Feb 1839 Kentucky
[parents of Mary Helmic are unknown to me at this time]

He married first to Catherine Smith 24 Sep 1829,, who was born 11 October 1811, and died 19 July 1841. They were the parents of the following children:

Columbus Tate, b. 3 July 1830; married and had chldren.

John Tate, born 26 March 1832. he married Patsy Kiser Allen in June of 1858 in Kentucky

James Thomas Tate, born 4 June 1834

William Francis Tate, born 13 Jan 1837, married and had children

David Tate, born 30 Dec 1838, died 1908-no issue

James Tate, born 25 Jan 1841, died 1915. Married June 1858 to Patsy Kiser Allen

Wilmer Preston Tate born 26 June 1885 Smallwood Township, Jasper Co., Il., married ca 1908 to Evelyn Callie Trainor, died 30 Nov 1944 at Akron, Summit Co., OH., buried 03 Dec 1944 at Akron, O.

Wilmer was very active in the forming of the labour unions in Akron. He was very influential and at the same time, there were a lot of people against what he was ding in tryingn to form unions for workers in the tire industry and other indistries. He devoted almost all of his time to this cause, and had a very understanding family. He died just a few days before his sister, Anna Elizabeth Tate Stewart, [see above] was killed in a car/train accident. [ I have a lot of newspaper articles regardingn his work in forming the AFL/CIO Union].
