JAMES TATE born August 1 1758 Ireland. He
migrated to America during the Colonial period with two brothers with whom
he entered the service of the Colonies and of whom he never afterward heard.
He was a teamster in the Rev. Forces and afterward settled on 300 acres
in York District. SC. He was a Fuller, Blacksmith by trade. He died in
1827. He married Catherine Stevenson, born 1770. His will dated
10 April 1827; probated 23 Oct 1827, wife Catherine to have half the plantation
containing 120 acres and at her demise to , Luthe Tate, Sarah Isles, Samuel
Tate, Rebecca Wallace, John, Hugh Andrew Tate, three single dtrs, Nancy,
Eleanor and Catherine. Ex. John Tate, son and John Jackson,
