This Web Space is in remembrance of Crippen Dennis Taylor and Angerona Jane Stinson both of Guilford Neck, Virginia. To them, their ancestors and descendants.
Married on 4 October 1875 near Guilford by JE Bundick. Jane had been previously married to Lewis Taylor, son of Matthew H. and Cassandra Taylor. Her first marriage was brief as Lewis could not deal with her having been in the family way before they were married. It was stated in divorce court for Jane Taylor and Lewis Taylor several times that Crippen Taylor and Jane Taylor were seen together often before Jane's first marriage, and after her separation. It is assumed that Jane and Crippen thought a lot of each other to be spending so much time together. Why Jane and Crippen didn't marry to begin with is unknown, but at least they ended up together for 51 years at that. Crippen was an oysterman for many years. It was said that he later worked for the Railroad, but this has not been confirmed. He was the last Taylor in our line to own land that was once thought to be owned by William Taylor of Charles Taylor dating back to the 1790's. Jane lived a hard life. It was said she had to cut her own firewood up into her latter years. She was a "Granny Woman" who would act as a midwife for expecting mothers.
