as part of TEETER KIN, 2003, genealogy by Laurie S. Dunham.

Aunt Nana as child and her father 1930s CA.

This file contains assorted family pictures (many are one-of-a-kind), with ancestral briefs. A priceless plus to "Teeter Kin" genealogy.

"MOTHER" *** Photo of Mother 2002 (1917 OR 2004 VA). Mother's tender words, "Just remember this. No matter what. I loved you. Remember this, always." linger soulfully. Mother is forever cherished; she is dearly missed. Her many descendants are part of her. Thank you MOTHER for being you and sharing our heritage.

Special thanks to Aunt NANA LOIS HUGHS (Joseph) of California, and her nephew JACK BIDDLECOME of Ohio, for their help and MOTHER'S in pinpointing our heritage. Thank you also, Nana, for giving me some very precious family pictures of the Black, Current, and Bresler families. Mother told me about her parents, grandparents, great grandparents, and her cousins and Aunts and Uncles and her childhood out west. She kept notes and wrote stories and poems; all inspiring my genealogical quest.

"FATHER" *** Photo of my proud "Semper Fi" father (was also Sgt in the Navy). Dad said "Staying proud and being all you can be is earned." This photo taken in California.

"FATHER" *** Dad was a patriot, hunter, fisherman, carpenter, and father of 9 children (twice married).

"CLINTON BLACK visits (1950s) Ithaca NY Tompkins Co" *** Grampa Clinton and grama Nana Black drove their handsome DeSoto auto from California to visit us. We were delighted; especially Mother; also in picture.

"Leaving CALIFORNIA!" *** Foto of me with 3 siblings, mother, and grama Nana Black (1888 IN 1956 CA) (d/o Albert and Rachel Bresler). Grampa Clinton Black (1886 OH 1973 CA) married this dear lady (1929) after his first wife, Ophelia Robacker Black, died 1919 age 26 in OR. My immediate family is off to Tompkins Co NYS (10/1941); sister not happy leaving. See Bresler heritage in the Aungst census file.

"Gravesite of OPHELIA MAY ROBACKER BLACK" *** Grama Ophelia was born in Upper Sandusky OH Wyandot Co on 6/1/1892, and migrated to Oregon City OR Clackamus Co, about 1911 from Ft Wayne IN, where she and grampa Clinton Ellsworth Black (4/10/1886 OH 10/31/1973 CA) married (5/1/1912 OR) and had 3 children (she died 4/3/1919, age 26, with pneumonia). Ophelia's grandmother, Mrs. John Aungst (Elizabeth Crunkilton d/o Robert and Jane Wilson Crunkilton) was born 1843 OH; she died 3/29/1919 OR (her body was returned to Wyandot Co OH to be buried along side of her husband, John Aungst born Sept 1838 Belleville OH who died January 1911 at Ft. Wayne IN, having come there to live at his daughter's (Mattie Aungst Robacker) home from Wyandot Co OH). Ophelia Robacker Black (w/o Clinton) is buried in Oregon, next to her mother, Mattie Aungst Robacker (11/4/1867 OH 5/1/1940 OR), wife of Samuel J Robacker (4/16/1864 OH 7/16/1945 OR; he dying at Portland OR remarried to a Rosa O Drips). The Robacker family went to Oregon about 1911 from Indianna from Ohio. The Black family came from Ohio to California about 1891 onto Oregon in 1910 and back to California in 1920.

In 1900, John and Eliza Crunkilton Aungst (parents of Mattie) lived at Crane Township in Wyandot Co OH; a niece, Mercedes C Leith age 26 single, born 1874 (d/o Hiram and Elizabeth), also lived with them. Mercedes' mom was likely Elizabeth Aungst Leith, sister to John Aungst. Mercedes' sister Ella may have married a Laughrin and be the Ruthella that the Black family visited at Lima OH in the early 1900s or she may be a Church. See the Aungst file for 1870 for Seneca and Richland Cos OH. John Aungst was the son of Richard and Elizabeth Myers Aungst; when he died in 1911, he left behind two sisters then living in IN.

Grampa and Grama (Clinton and Ophelia) Black lived in Mt. Pleasant, a suburb of Oregon City OR. Prior to their marriage of 1912, Clinton Black (an only child, and of the Baptist faith) lived with his parents (Frank and Margaret Current Black), in 1910, at Canemah OR. Per 1900, Clinton Black lived with his parents in CA at Fresno at 1734 H Street, having come from OH in 1891 to California; his dad (Frank) being a railroad conductor for the Southern Pacific Railroad. After Ophelia died (1919), Grampa Clinton Black took his 3 motherless children, sailing the Yankee Doodle lumbership, and went onto Escondido, California with his parents, living at Fig Street. Clinton E Black remarried (1929) and had another child; he also raised 2 other children of his second wife, Nana Bresler Biddlecome Black, from her prior marriage, the Biddlecome boys.

Grampa Clinton's father, Franklin (Frank) Ellsworth Black (7/19/1863 OH 5/16/1927 CA) (RR conductor and farmer), was the grandson of Henry Black from Perry and Hardin Cos. Ohio. Franklin E Black's wife, Margaret (Maggie) A Current Black (10/10/1869 IN 2/18/1932 CA) was the daughter of Sylvanus (Sylvester) Current (1833-1906) and wife, Alice A West Current (1841-1876).

Alice West Current was the daughter of Clement West (1797 NY 4/1873 IN), of Wells Co IN Jefferson, per 1860 with wife, Rhoda Johnston West, born 1812 NY (having married 1830 Wayne Co OH); with ch: John W 21, Anna J 18, and Rhoda M 14 b IN. For 1850 Bluffton IN: Clement and wife Rhoda and some ch: Rebecca 15, Hana 13, Abigail 37 b PA, siblings to my Alice. In 1870 Clement and Rhoda West are in Wayland Co MI at Bradley along with Henry F Avery 35 b NY and Sarah A 33, and Emma Mead 10, Willie 9 and Lulia 7. *Alice A West was born Nov 1840 OH and married Sylvanus S Current in 1858 and died September 10, 1876, leaving a husband and 5 children: (1) William H Current born 1859 (married Mary Thomas), (2) Harry S Current born 1866 (married Mary Luella Kyle 1877-1959 d/o Abel and Carrie Stouder Kyle), (3) Annie May (Mrs William A Dosh 1867-4/1931), and (4) Charles S Current born 1873 who married Viola Sams (Feasel), as well as (5) Mrs Frank E Black (my great grama, Margaret A Current Black 1869 IN -1932 CA).

Franklin E and Margaret A Current Black are buried at Greenwood Cemetery, San Diego CA. Franklin Black's son and his 2nd wife (Clinton E and Nana L Bresler Biddlecome Black) are buried at Mt. Hope Cemetery, San Diego CA; Clintons first wife Ophelia May Robacker Black is buried in Oregon next to her mother, Mattie Aungst Robacker - see foto of her gravestone. Clinton E Black last lived Alpine CA.

Sylvanus (Sylvester) S Current born March 22, 1833 Trumbull OH (parents of PA) near Warren (died Feb 23, 1906 Ft Wayne IN - buried Lindenwood Cem IN) was a school teacher and corporal in Civil War, Co H 13th IN Vol.; he also worked for the Penn RR for many years; and he was a charter member of the Calvary United Brethren Church and the G.A.R.), a son of Matthew and Eliz Current, of PA and OH. Sylvanus Current married 7 Mar 1880 at New Haven, Allen Co IN (2ndly) Caroline (Carrie) D/E Barney (born Oct 22/27 1843 Millersport, Fairfield Co OH; died 7/10/1920 at Ft Wayne IN at son's home), as daughter of Harvey Fitch Stouder (11/1815 OH 3/14/1908 IN) and wife, Elizabeth Rogers Stouder (married 22 June 1842 at Ft Wayne IN). Carrie (Barney) had 1 or 2 children by her first marriage (Oscar S T Barney 1841-1864 s/o L and H); and she had one son by Sylvanus Current, a Harry S Current (12/9/1880 IN 7/12/1962 IN) who married an Alice E lnu (Olive) b Aug 1878. There is also the surname of Kyle for Caroline as parent per IN records.

Per 1850, at Delaware IN, I find a Carolina Barnes, age 6, born abt 1844, with a sister, Mary Ann, age 8, b IN, living with their parents, Thomas Barnes, age 37 b PA and (wife) Eliza, age 38, b OH. This would make Caroline a Barnes who married Stouder and Kyle and then Current. The Stouders were also in Clermont OH and some came from VA.

Per 1900, at Adam IN Allen County: Harvey S Current b 1880 and wife, Alice E b 1878 along with Clyde b 1897, are living at Sylvester and Carrie D Current's home along with father-in-law, Harvey E Stouder. There were many Current families also of Henry Co IN.

Franklin E (Church) Black (1863 OH 1927 CA) (RR conductor and farmer), was the son of James, per Franklin's death certificate (as maternal grandson of Henry).

Frank E Church born about 1863 lived with his grandparents, Henry and Susanna Carey Black of Ada OH in 1870 (as possible son of James S Church born 1843 as son of Augustus. Frank likely half sibling to Charles Edward Sleister (Sleichter) born 1872, as grandson along with Frank, in 1880 at Hardin Co OH.

"EDDIE and MINNIE SLEICHTER" *** Charles Edward Sleichter was born 1872 Hardin Co OH and died at Sacramento CA in 1945; his mother's maiden name being Black (likely Eliz d/o Henry and Susanna). Ed was a brakeman for the railroad and his wife Minnie Kennedy Sleichter's maiden name was St Mary. Ed also worked on 2 way radios during the War for the gov't. As did their son, Ray. Minnie was born 1878 CA and died 1958 Sacremento CA. Ray W Sleichter 1901-70 CA. Aunt Nana Hughs recalls them very well.

For Perry Co OH 1860 Jackson, I find a James P Black 58 b PA and Jane 56 b OH along with Mary E Kennedy 25 b 1835 OH. Also, a William B Black born 1806 and Mary born 1809, along with Henry and Susanna Carey Black and family. Henry is also there in 1840 with 2 boys and 2 girls and his wife.

Per 1900, Frank/lin E Black (railroad conductor) and wife, Margaret Current Black, are at Fresno, California 3rd ward, with son, Clinton E Black, age 14 (my grampa). Per 1910, they are at Canemah, Clackamus Co OR, along with William Current (b 1859 IN, as widower of Mary Thomas), with child, Lois M., born 1900.

Per 1920, Frank E Black (farmer) and wife, Margaret Current Black are at Citrus, Escondido Turnpike, San Diego California, along with their son, Clinton E Black (widower of Ophelia Robacker Black, a sheet metal worker for the 11th Naval District CALIF), along with Clinton's 3 children, Robert C Black (1913-86), James W Black (1915-32), and Ellen M (1917-2004) (said children all born OR). Frank/lin E Black had a cousin, of Lima OH, Mrs. Ruthelle Laughrin, whom he visited (from Fresno CA) in the early 1900's while his wife, Margaret visited her father, Sylvanus Current, as he was seriously ill, dying in 1906.

Near my ancestral grampa, John and Eliz Crunkilton Aungst, of Wyandot Co OH Crane, per 1900, lived the family of William Shleister born 1870 from OH (Switz parentage) and his wife, Minnie B born 1869 and children, Emma born 1892, *Ruth E born 1895 (? married William Laughrin or did he marry Ella Lieth his wife), and Gladdis born 1897. In 1870 John Aungst and wife, Elizabeth (Lizzie) (Crunkilton), along with Mattie Aungst (their adopted child, born 1867) are at Richland Co OH, Belleville, next Lucy E Keller age 29 and daughter Al... age 10. In 1910, John Aungst and wife, Eliz M and a niece Mercedes C Leith age 26 are at Wyandot Co OH, Crane Township.

The Church-Black family of Ohio. My great grampa is 2nd from the left (*Frank). Others unknown at this time.

"OPHELIA ROBACKER BLACK" *** Photo of precious grama Ophelia May Robacker Black ~ only pic family has! Ophelia (b 1892 OH) (w/o Clinton Ellsworth Black 1886 OH 1973 CA) died 4/3/1919, age 26, of pneumonia; her grama, Eliza Crunkilton Aungst had died but a few days earlier (3/29/19) in Oregon City OR. Mattie Aungst Robacker (now divorced), and nurse and boarding home owner, (and as the d/o of Eliza Crunkilton Aungst, and mother of Ophelia) had her hands full, along with her grandchildren. Clinton Black (husband of Ophelia) had 3 motherless children to look after as he and Mattie both worked. So, Clinton left for CA and Mattie continued working. The funerals and burials were attended to; and life had to go on. Mattie in her later years went to live with her son, Avery and his wife, Annie Laurie Reardon Robacker, where she died in 1940.

Mattie Aungst Robacker was the mother of Ophelia Robacker Black. She was a nurse and smoked a clay pipe; and land patentee (and built many homes in OH, IN, and OR); and she was a strong, positive influence in the lives of her husband and children, and her grandchildren. Mom said that her grama Mattie was a tall, strong, thin boned German, sturdy, loving, no nonsense lady who was a pioneer, a nurse, a mother, a wife, and grandmother. Along with Mattie, my mother's other grama, Maggie Current Black, these two people meant the world to her and they kept her heritage alive knowing that it was important since mother had lost her mom at age two. The two gramas were friends and complemented each other. Maggie was a magpie (nicknamed "little biddy" for small) and Mattie was the orphan nurse who nursed her family and heritage. Maggie (daughter of a teacher) taught mother the Charleston. Mother sang to me in Spanish when I was a child. Thank goodness for them and their humble proudness.

"MATTIE AUNGST ROBACKER, RN" *** Mattie, mother of Ophelia Robacker Black, and wife of Samuel J Robacker.

"Gravesite of great grama MATTIE ROBACKER 1867-1940 Oregon City OR Clackamus Co" *** Mattie Aungst Robacker was the mother of Ophelia May Robacker Black (1892 OH 1919 OR) (above) and Avery W Robacker; and the daughter of John Aungst (9/1839 OH 1911 OH) (master carpenter) and Elizabeth M (Crunkilton) Aungst (11/1843/4 OH 4/1919 OR). Mattie died at her son's (Avery) home. *Mattie Aungst Robacker (my great grama) was a Navy nurse and land owner; and she also was a Pythians Sister; her spouse, Samuel Jacob Robacker, (born 1864 Sandusky City OH), was tailor, rodeoman, land patentee (Deschutes Co OR), and more; (he died 1945 at Portland OR), was grocery store manager (2nd wife, Rosa O Robacker 1862-1941 was owner). Sam and his family were in Ft Wayne IN Allen Co in 1900 and went to OR in 1911. He and Mattie divorced in 1917 OR (they married and divorced each other 3 times - I have the divorce papers. Sam married lastly a Mrs. Rosa O Drips who died in 1941). Mattie and Sam were both business minded folk and when Sam went to the Dalles in OR and bought land and took up rodeoing, in 1916, Mattie kept on working ~ and, although much in love, Mattie was the more conservative of the two and very protective of family, which caused friction to their marriage. Both were outspoken and community minded people.

Samuel J Robacker (1864-1945) (who had a dye and cleaner business, as did his father) was the son of George Jacob Robacker (born 1816 Weingarten, Germany, who emigrated 1837 to America and died at Sandusky City, Erie Co OH in 1894, buried at Oakland Cem on Milan Rd.) with his wife, Sarah Ann Eckert/s (born 1820-1883) whom he married in 1840 (she from PA). George and Sarah Eckers Robacker are in the 1870 (and 1880) census at Erie Co., OH, 2nd ward, Sandusky City, along with Samuel, at age 16 born 1864, and John born 1847 (he born at Monroe Co PA). George Rohrbacher (sp) was brother to a Frederick.

I have found further data for the ROBACKER family: Per the 1850 census of Monroe Co PA, Stroudsburg, my George Jacob Robacker, is found as Jacob Robacker, a tailor age 34, born Germany, and his wife, Sarah Ann Eckerts 30 b PA, of Monroe Co PA Stroudsburg. Mr. Robacker came from German to America in 1837. Their first child George W Robacker 9 was born in Ohio in 1841. Next children are: Mary E 7, Elizabeth A 5, John N 3 b 1847 OH (John shows up in 1880 census at Erie Co OH Sandusky with dad and mom and his little bro, my Samuel born 1864 who married Mattie Aungst and had Ophelia who married my grampa Clinton Black), and lastly Frances M 6/12 (male) b PA. So, it would appear that the Robackers went to OHIO and then onto PA around 1849 and then back to OHIO. Jacob/George Robacker and wife Sarah are buried at Erie Co OH Sandusky. In the 1850 census at PA, the Robackers (mine) are living next Eckerts and Shively families. I think that perhaps my George Jacob Robacker born 1806 Germany (Baden) was son of a Matthias.

Further data: Frank Robacker for 1880 age 30 born 1850 PA is at Fairfield OH Lancaster with wife Cora E 29 b LA, he a dyer by trade. My Robackers were also in the dye and cleaning business. This is Frances F Robacker who shows on the 1850 census as age 6/12 at Monroe Co PA Stroudsburg. The first born child (George W b 1841) of Jacob/George Robacker is found in 1870 at Richland Co OH at Mansfield age 29 born 1841 OH with his wife Anna 22 and child Sherman age 4. Cannot seem to find John N (Nick?) or Henry?

Elizabeth Crunkilton Aungst (wife of John Aungst, above and mother to Mattie Aungst Robacker) was the daughter of Robert C Crunkilton b Franklin Co PA 1814 (he died 1895 at his daughter's home, Mrs. Elizabeth Aungst, my great great grama) coming to Wooster Ohio about 1823 or so; he was a Methodist and married in 1838 Jane Wilson born Nov 1814/5 MD d 1906 OH; they had 5 children to include Mrs. Lydia Meyers born 1852 wife of Robert Myers (sister to my great great grama Elizabeth Crunkilton Aungst), and Mrs. E (Esther or Emma) McCurdy, aunts to great grama Mattie Aungst Robacker. Robert and Jane Wilson Crunkilton are buried at Nevada Cemetery, Eden Turnpike, Wyandot Co Ohio (Upper Sandusky) as well as John and Elizabeth Crunkilton Aungst. Robert was the son of Joseph and Mary Cronkleton of Delaware Co OH who had a Will in 1824 and mentions Robert as son. For 1830 Franklin Co PA: A Joseph Crunkleton; and an Mary Crunkleton, living at Antrim and Wash Twps.

"CLINTON E BLACK, of Ada OH, Hardin Co" *** Grampa Clinton Ellsworth Black (1886 OH 1973 CA). This photo was taken at Ada OH Hardin County by a Mr. M V Gilbert, photographer (printed on back of pic), around 1902. Grampa married 3 times. He lost his first wife (Ophelia) when she was but 26 in 1919 and his second wife (Nana) died in 1956 (diabetes). Grampa Clinton Black, remarried 3rdly a Hettie Geraldine Fenton Smith (1903 IL 1976 CA). Grampa had 3 children by his first wife, Ophelia. He had 1 child by his second wife, Nana. No children of last marriage. Note the clothing fashionable at that time.

"MARGARET CURRENT BLACK w/o FRANK" *** This pic is of *Margaret A Current Black (1869 IN 1932 CA) ~ pic taken in California. She and husband, Frank/lin E Black (1863 OH 1927 CA) were parents of Clinton E Black (1886 OH 1973 CA), above (their only child - and my grampa). Margaret Current Black was the daughter of Sylvanus Current (1833 OH 1906 IN) who married (1858) Alice A West (1841 OH 1876 OH) (d/o Clement Jr and Rhoda Johnston West). Other siblings to great grama Margaret Current Black were: William H/R Current born 1859 (md Mary Thomas), Charles S born 1863, Harry S born 1867, and Anna May (Annie ~ Aunt Doty) (bc 1868 d 1931 at Ft Wayne IN; as wife of William A Dosh 1855-11/2/1937 age 75, Fremont OH), of Adams Township, New Haven City, Allen County, IN.

"FRANK, CLINTON, ROBERT, and NANA BLACK" *** This is a collage of some of my Black heritage, to include my great grampa Frank Black, railroad conductor at work on his caboose, at Southern Pacific Railroad on Tulare and H Street, Fresno CA. See description next for said caboose.

Franklin E Black 1863 OH - 1927 CA, railroad conductor and living at Fresno on H St in 1900: Frank is in the California Railroad Archives in a photograph, on his caboose. "Conductor (Frank Black) waves from rear platform of Central Pacific wood caboose No. 93. The back of the print is inscribed "Oneill near Brighton." CP 93 is a 32-foot long, wood, side-door caboose, completed October 30, 1889. This caboose was a standard type along the CP and the SP from the mid-1880s until 1897 when the design was slightly changed and adopted as Class CS 15. The car was relettered Southern Pacific February 19, 1924, in Sacramento. The railroad designated the caboose as "worn out" on April 6, 1932,. Its final disposition is unknown." Frank died of tuberculosis in 1927; his wife, Margaret Current Black died in 1932 of ovarian cancer.

Sylvanus (Sylvester) Samuel Current (father of Marg. Current Black) remarried Caroline D/E Barney Stouder (b 1843), and had Harry S Current in 1880. Caroline (Carrie D) was the daugher of Harvey (Harry) E Stouder (born 1815 OH) and Elizabeth Rogers Stouder (his parents being, Jacob and Nancy Fitch Stouder, born OH and VA). Some Stouders were from Clermont Co OHIO and Baptists.

The Current family per 1860 is in Indianna at Wells County (Jefferson/Bluffton); per 1880, they are in Indianna at Allen County (New Haven City); and per 1900 yet at Allen Co IN at Adams Twp. William H/R Current, as widower (with daughter Lois M born 1900), are at Clackamus Co Oregon and is witness to the marriage of Clinton E Black to Ophelia M Robacker on May 1st, 1912. The Robackers went to Oregon around 1911 from IN from OH and that the Blacks (and Wm Current) went from OH and IN onto California in 1900 and to OR in 1910 (Cannemah OR Clackamus Co) and back to CA in 1920. John Aungst of Ohio, died 1911 and that is about when the Robackers (Sam, Mattie, Avery, Ophelia) went westwardly from Ft Wayne IN. Mrs. John Aungst (Eliza) died a few apart from her grandaughter, Ophelia in 1919 in Oregon and she (Eliza) was buried with her husband in Ohio at Wyandot County, Nev Cem.

"ROBERT CLINTON BLACK" *** Uncle Robert Clinton Black (2/13/1913 OR 2/27/1986 CA) was the son of Clinton and Ophelia Robacker Black; he was also brother to James W Black (1/15/1915 OR 6/21/1932 CA), and Ellen M T D Cook (3/16/1917 OR 3/12/2004 VA), as well as half-brother to little Nana L, born 1930. Robert Clinton Black married Ruth Jeanne Harris (1914-2001, from CT d CA) (she d/o Lloyd G and Bessie Harris from New London Co CT) and had two children (Clinton R Black; Jeanne Black Thibeault) and grandchildren, Russell and Amy ~ some who live in Denton TX. Pic taken of Robert C Black, during WWII, at undisclosed place; he handsomely reminds me of his proud grama Mattie Aungst Robacker.

"MARGARET CURRENT BLACK with daughter-in-law NANA" *** Margaret A Current Black (Mrs. Franklin Ellsworth Black 1869 IN 1932 CA) is seated with her close friend's daughter, Nana Lois Bresler Biddlecome (1888 IN 1956 CA), who was the daughter of Albert and Rachel Bresler; who was also a son of an Albert and Julianna Bresler who was son of a Daniel and Rebecca Bresler from PA onto IN. Albert Bresler (brakeman) and Frank Black (conductor) both worked for the railroad. When Frank and Margaret Black's son's first wife (Ophelia Robacker Black, wife of Clinton Black) died in 1919 at OR, Clinton Black remarried Nana Lois Bresler Biddlecome, who had 2 children by a prior marriage to Henry Leo Biddlecome (1884 MI 1954 NY), said children being, Harry Lawrence Biddlecome (1900 IN 1979) who md Bertha Timmons, and Robert "Bud" John Biddlecome (1913 IN 1986) who md Dorothy Bell Oaks, half-brothers to Nana Lois Black Hughs). "MARGE TEETER LITTLE" *** Marge Teeter Little (b Dec 1931) passed away in April of 2005 ~ her spirit remains. Marge was instrumental in preserving the heritage of Frank and Angeline Doll Teeter and and kept records for their children, of which one was her father. Marge shared heartfelt stories with me of her Aunts and Uncles that I would never had known. Much gratitude to cousin Marge for some very special pictures. THANK YOU MARGE ~ you are missed. Marge also contributed the Stewart Park Teeter Clan (1938) showing great grama Angeline Teeter (w/o Frank), and grama Anna Teeter (w/o William), and others, to include her mother; as well as for the pic of my great grama (Marge's grama Angeline Doll Teeter w/o Frank) and another pic of her and sons, to include my grampa Bill (Wm) (h/o Anna) and his brothers (one, Marge's dad, younger brother to my grampa Bill). "Grandmother ANNA L WHITE TEETER 1899-1976 NY ~ 1950's" *** I took this picture of my Grama Teeter in Ithaca NY on West State Street in the 1950's. Grama was coming home from downtown. My sister Josie and I stopped her to talk briefly. Grama was always busy having had to raise a big family of 14 children. She dressed neatly and kept her hair up in a bun; she had bad varicose veins and diabetes, but she just kept going on. She took care of Grampa until he passed away in 1965; she did not have a gas stove for many years, always cooking on a wood iron stove. I remember Grama having geraniums in her kitchen window in Campbell soup cans. She was a no nonsense lady and had no time for small talk or small minded folk. She made pancakes and had a recipe for ongoing batter while Grampa was famous for his home-made horse radish, which recipe had been handed down throughout many generations. I thought my Grama was beautiful and she was.
