Miss Josphine (Dorothy) CARRICAN and Harold SMITH were married Friday May 19, 1931; per Enfield NY Tompkins County, news of The Church Messenger. Josie was daughter of Samuel and Concetta Leonardo Carrican. The surname Carrican was Americanized from an Italian spelling. Her sister Frances was born 8/13/1924 Cuylerville NY and died 2/2006 as Frances Grossi Simpson.

HAROLD SMITH 12 Jul 1900 - Apr 1964 Tompkins Co Ithaca New York; buried 5/4/64 Calvalry Cem Ithaca NY as husband of Josephine (Carrican) b 14 Dec 1913 d 26 Jan 2002. Harold is said to have had a brother Howard who married a Norma. Harold's son, Richard b 1937 died in 2009 ~ see Obituary briefs page.

The Carrican family lived prior at Livingston Co NY.

Alphonse Leonardo died age 56, Cuylerville NY 22 Sept 1937. He worked in the salt mines since 1923 for 18 years; and lived in Cuylerville 32 years. He was born 18 Sept 1881 in Italy, the son of Francesco Leonardo and Josephine DePrima Leonardo. Alphonse is buried St Patrick's Cem, Mt Morris NY. Services, St Thomas Church in Leicester. Besides his wife, Mary (Gunda), he left behind: 3 daughters; Mrs Josephine Spicciatti, Miss Carrie Leonardo of Elmira, and Ms Mary Leonardo of Ithaca; and 4 sons; Frank, John, and Anthony Leonardo of Ithaca, and Joseph Leonardo of Cuylerville NY.

Mary Jane Leonardo, 76, widow of Alphonso Leonardo, former Cuylerville residents, died Tues, Feb 16, 1990 at home, Ithaca NY. She was born in Italy, came to USA 52 years ago, and spent most of her life in Cuylerville NY. She was member of the Sacred Heart Church, Altal Guild and Rosary Society at Ithaca NY. She is survived by 3 daughters, Mrs Joseph R O'Connor, Mrs Mary Hnocharik, and Mrs. Carrie R McCarthy; and three sons, Frank F Leonardo, Anthony J Leonardo, and Joseph A Leonardo, all of Ithaca. And, 21 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services, Bangs Funeral Home and Sacred Heard Church. Burial, Ithaca Cemetery.

Joseph A Leonardo 77, of Dryden Rd, Ithaca NY and Fort Myers FL, died Thurs, Feb 5, 1998, at the Hospicare Resident Center surrounded by family. Joe was born Cuylerville NY, son of the late Alphonso and Mary Grace Leonardo. After moving to Ithaca from Cuylerville in 1936, Joe owned and operated several taverns and restaurants in the Ithaca area. Joe owned the Royal Palm Tavern in Collegetown since 1950; associated with the Palms since 1941. He retired to Fort Myers in 1979. The Palms currently operated by his sons. Joe was member of the Tompkins Co Hotel and Rest Asscn and former member of their Board of Directors. He was also member of the Sons of Italy, the Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge #636, and the Immaculate Conception Church. He was charter member of the Ithaca chapter of the Prawn Brokers Club in Fort Myers and the original owner of the Eddy Street Truckers slow pitch team. Joe is survived by his wife, Fidelia (Ogden); his daughter Mary Grace (Frank L Rogan); and his sons Leonard R Leonardo (Theresa Emm), John F Leonardo (Tammy Larsen), Joseph A Leonardo II. Grandch: Joseph Leonardo Rogan, Maxwell Austin Rogan, Amanda Marie Leonardo, John Frank Leonardo II. Also survived by sisters: Mary Hancharik and Carrie McCarthy; several nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins. Joe was predeceased by his brothers: Alphonso, John, Frank, and Anthony Leonardo; and his sister, Josephine O'Conor. Burial, Calvary Cemetery, Ithaca NY.

It appears Sam and Carrie Carrican per 1932 had 15 children, with 10 living per the birth certificate of Anna Carrican born December 15, 1932; parents born Sicily; he 50 at last at last birthday and she 44 at last birthday. Gives residence of Cuylerville NY. There is a death cert for Anna, who died the same day about 20 minutes later. Anna is buried at Mt Morris Cemetery. So, did Sam and Carrie come back to Cuylerville from Ithaca for a time and then return to Ithaca? For in 1930, they are at Ithaca NY. Cannot find them in 1920.

January 29, 2001 HANCHARIK FORT MYERS, FL: MARY LEONARDO HANCHARIK, died peacefully at Hospice House at Fort Myers, Fla., Friday, January 26, 2001. She was born in Cuylerville, NY on April 10, 1916 and came to Ithaca with her family in her teens. She was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Marie Junta Leonardo, and widow of Martin A. Hancharik who died in 1991. Mary and Marty were married in 1951 at Immaculate Conception Church in Ithaca, and lived on Dryden Road for all their married life. Mary is....

Helen Wilcox, 85, of Matoaca, Virginia and formerly of Ithaca NY, died July 31, 2000 (Monday) in Virginia. Born October 9, 1914 in Willseyville NY, she was the eldest daughter of the late Luther and Mary Overbaugh Stevens. She was wife of Oliver G Wilcox who died March 2, 1999. She was member of St. Paul's united Methodist Church and had been a teachers' aide for Beverly Martin, having also worked for Cooperative Extension...

1850 PA Monroe Co: Jacob Robacker 34 b Ger, a tailor, Sarah Ann (Eckers) 30, George W 9 b 1841, Mary E 7, Elizabeth A 5, John N b 1847 , Frances F inf. This Jacob George Robacker (aka George) is my great great grampa and father of Samuel J Robacker not yet born this census who married Mattie Aungst and had my grama Ophelia Robacker who married Clinton Black.

1860 OH Erie Co Florence: G J Roobacher (Rorbacher/Robacker) 40 b Germany, Sarah (nee Eckert d/o Andrew and Eliz) 40 b PA, and children: J. N. 19, Mary E 17, Annie E 15, F. F. 11, H. J. 7, Charles 5, Julia 1. Per combined census data, it appears that George and Sarah Robacker had at least 9 children, to include my Sam b 1864. Also, there appears said 1850 census of PA, firstborn, Geo W bc1841 (md ?Cath Shlip). Sarah Eckert Robacker as d/o of Andrew and Elizabeth Eckert from Bisterschied, Bavaria, Germany, who came to America in 1833 to Tuscarawas County OH. Some family members went onto PA. Andrew served with Napoleon for 8 years. Sarah as sister to Charles who married Caroline Barnhart and Frederick who married Phoebe Gribble. Frederick's daughter Elizabeth married Fred Myers; who was cousin to Samuel Robacker (s/o J George Robacker and Sarah A Eckert Robacker. Also, it appears that Charles Rohrbacher married an Emma and had ch: Nelson who md a Libby and had Charles J and Nelson G.
