10. Rebecca Jane Crawford

There is a problem with the date and location Rebecca Jane gave for her birth [27 May 1838 in Fannin Co., GA.(this date is also recorded on her grave marker)] and the date and place her parents were married [1 April 1838 in Haywood Co., NC.].  Some researchers show a sister being born in 1839 in Haywood Co., NC. and Rebecca Jane being born in Fannin Co., GA. in 1845.  However, if she was born in 1845, then she would have been only 12 years old when she says that she and Joshua Brumley were narried in 1857.  We are then faced with another problem:  Rebecca's mother appears to have died in Fannin Co., GA. before 3 April 1862 when her father, Samuel Crawford , is reported to  have married Elizabeth Banks on that date in Fannin Co., GA.  Samuel and Elizabeth are reported to have had their first child, Uldrick Malcom Crawford born in Fannin Co., GA in 1864.  Their next child is said to have been born about 1866 in Polk Co., AR.  This would suggest that the date of Rebecca's marriage was possibly the year 1866 or 1867 rather than the 1857 date she gave in the supplement to her pension application below.

I received this file from the Arkansas History Commission, One Capitol Mall, Little Rock, AR., 72201. - T.E. King

Rebecca's application was given the number 17895 on the Application Approved form and then crossed out and the number given to her file is written above the number which is crossed out. However, it is off the edge of the copy and only the very bottom of the numbers can be seen. This form is dated 7 Aug 1908 and was approved for $100. In this document she states that her husband, Joshua Brumley, "died 10th day of July in the year 1908:.

The document dated 15 Feb 1932 (below) was a Supplement to the original application (they must have wanted more information than had been in the original application in 1908).
