R. D.:

Pat Kinsey gave me your address because of my interest in the Westonconnections with my wife's Moore ancestors.

My wife descends from the same Kinsey family that Pat Kinsey's husbanddoes. Her gr-grand mother Mary Catherine Kinsey m. Michael P. T. Mooredau of John L. Moore and Rebecca Lucinda Wacaster.

When John L. Moore applied for a pension for his Civil War service in1885, William H. Weston filed an Affidavit in support of his claim andstated that he had known John L. Moore from before the war.

I have learned that William H. Weston married two of the sisters ofRebecca Lucinda Wacaster. This would explain how it was that he knewJohn L. Moore. And I have heard my wife's father and uncle talk about afamily association with a Henry Weston (whom I have thought might beWilliam H. Weston).

Do any of these names and connections"ring a bell" with you and yourresearch?

Waiting to hear from you,

Hello Thurmond. Sorry I have taken so long to answer, but have justreturned from a vacation in California.

The 1900 Census for Garland County, AR lists William Henry Weston inLincoln Township, Dwelling 81-81, and that he was born in Alabama, hisfather in Ireland, and his mother in Alabama.

His parents were Jesse Weston, Laborer, Jackson County, Alabama, page 44District 19, 26 Dec 1850 and Louisa Norman, daughter of Henry and SaraNorman, Jackson County, Alabama, page 18, District 19, 18 Apr 1850.Jesse was married to a woman named Nancy and had two other children byher: Susan, and Andrew. Louisa went to Jesse's house to help care forhis invalid wife, became impregnated, and kept the baby and named himWilliam Henry Weston.

Additional information received from a family member who lived withGrandma Dulcenia after the death of William Henry: arrangements weremade by the Wacaster family with his mother (Louisa Norman) to have himplaced on a tree stump in a field and a Wacaster family member wouldretrieve him when no one was around. This apparently, is the explanationof how and why, he was with the Wacaster's on the 1850 Arkansas Census. He was raised by the Wacaster family.

William Henry, along with John L. Moore, joined the 3d Missouri Cavalry(Union). He was mustered out of the service on 27 Jul 1865 at NewOrleans, Louisiana.

William Henry Weston, born 16 Mar 1849, in Alabama, died 11 Mar 1901,buried Peak Cemetery, married first, Easter Adeline Wacaster, born 4 Sep1846, died 11 Nov 1877, buried Peak Cemetery.

William Henry Weston, married second, Dulcenia Wacaster. sister of hisfirst wife. Dulcenia Wacaster, born 16 Jan 1856, died 1 Nov 1941, buriedPeak Cemetery. This is the line that I descend from.

I have the same information of WH vouching for JL. I have a Dischargefor WH from Co F, 11th Regiment of Calvary Missouri. I think WH and JLwere seperated when they shipped out from Jackson Port (Little Rock, AR).

Hope this has helped you some. RD
