(Note from Howard: Sarah McMath was born in Kircubbin Co. Down, Ireland 5 Aug. 1810. She married James Strain 17 Dec. 1830 in Ireland. In 1832 Sarah and James moved to Amherst Island with her parents and siblings where she and James farmed. Her husband James was drowned 29 Apr. 1856 in Kingston, Ontario at Doyle's Warf and is buried in Pentland Cemetery, Amherst Island. Prior to 1871 she moved to a farm in Dover Twp. ,Kent County Ontario with her children who had several farms in the area. Sarah died there on 15 Feb. 1884 and is buried in Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham, Kent County Ontario.)
