June 16, 1897
Mr. John Driscoll, jr. has been appointed Treasurer of Howe Island.

The Howe Island Township Council will pay the bills of the Beaubien family, contracted during illness from diphtheria, amount to $95.00

January 12 1898
The following gentlemen constitute the Howe Island council: Reeve, John Foley; Councilors, John Bieof, John P. Goodfriend, and R. Gillespie. Reeve Foley defeated his opponent Mr. LaChance by only one vote.

January 26 1898
Messrs. Peter Cassidy and Thomas Kane have been appointed auditors of the Township of Howe Island. The Collector has been ordered to have all the taxes collected before the third Monday in February

March 2, 1898
Mr. Julius LaChance has been appointed Township Clerk of Howe Island in succession to Michael Melville, the salary to be the same $8.50.

June 8 1898
Mr. J. Prior ahs been appointed Collector of Taxes on Howe Island.

October 26 1898
Howe Island Post Office-Mr. Jos. O'Brien was at Howe Island last week transferring the post office from the care of Ambrose Goodfriend to Nelson White. The island post office has been in charge of the O'Brien family for twenty-three years, and when their farm was rented to Mr. Goodfriend, he took charge of the mail on O'Brien's security. The new post off ice is now located about one half mile from O'Brien's ferry wharf.

Howe Island Council-The members of the Howe Island Township Council met on Monday, 8th inst., at 11 a.m. All subscribed to the oath of qualification and declaration of office. The minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted. Resolved, that the following persons be appointed township officers: Auditors, Thomas Kane and David Welsh; Board of Health, George Baillie, for three years, Medical Health Officers, Dr. Bird; Assessor, Joseph Garrah; Poundkeepers, Joel LaChance, John Driscoll and Louis Beaubien; Pathmasters Div. No. 1 Charles Welsh; No.2 Alex Marshall; No.3 Charles Lavis; No. 4, Leo Rochefort; No. 5 William Greer; No. 6 Michael McCarty. Moved by R. Thompson, seconded by T. Garrah, that The Canadian Freeman receive the printing of the township… moved by J.P. Goodfriend, seconded by T. Garrah, that P.J. Kane be relieved as Treasurer's bondsman. On motion of R. Thompson seconded by T. Garrah, Patrick J. Kane was appointed Clerk to fill the office vacated by the resignation of F.J. LaChance. A by-law was passed confirming the above appointments. On motion of J.P. Goodfriend, the Reeve and Clerk were appointed to receive the Treasurer's bondsman. The Council adjourned to meet on Feb. 8th.

Feb 14 1900
Howe Island Township Council-The members were all present at the meeting of the Howe Island township Council held on Thursday 8th inar. The minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted. The Auditor's report was laid before the council and read. It was moved by Mr. J.P. Goodfriend, seconded by Mr. Joseph Goodfriend, that the Auditor's report be adopted.-Carried. J.P. Goodfriend moved, seconded by Thomas Garrah, that John Prior's bonds be relieved.-Carried. Moved by Thomas Garrah, seconded by Richard Thompson, that Peter Beseau be appointed Collector.-Carried. Resolved, that the road districts be looked after as follows; Nos. 1 and 2, Joseph Goodfriend; No. 3 Thomas Garrah; No. 4 John P. Goodfriend No. 5 A. LaChance; No. 6 Richard Thompson. The following bills were ordered to be paid; Auditor, $3; Richard Thompson, lumber and freight, $283; Leo Rochefort, rent, $2.50. A bylaw was passed confirming the same. Moved by John P. Goodfriend, seconded by Thomas Garrah, that the council adjourn til May 28th at one O'clock, for the Court Revision.
