Wedded Fifty Years
Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Greenwood Feted by Their Children.
Wolfe IslandA very happy event was arranged to celebrate the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas M. Greenwood at the home of their daughters Mrs. Ira Payne and Mr. Payne, Wolfe Island.
They were married in the year 1882 in the Sacred Heart Church, Wolfe Island.
The house was very tastefully decorated with gold and white while a golden-tinted wedding cake adorned the centre of the table. A family banquet, which was attended by the entire family, six sons, seven daughters and forty-six grandchildren, was followed by an evening of entertainment. An address was made expressing felicitations to Mr. and Mrs. Greenwood and a purse of gold was the gift of the family.
After a very pleasant evening the bride and groom of fifty years were the recipients of good wishes and many more years of happiness.

Mr. and Mrs. Burrows 65 Years Married [nee Barrett of Wolfe Island] Prominent Educationist Was Wed in 1863 Father of Distinguished Family Has Written Poetry Last Verse Published Composed After His Eighty-Sixth Birthday
The blessings of sixty-five years of married happiness is given to only a few in this world, and the greater joy of watching seven children attain positions of distinction, is still rarer. These blessings have been showered upon Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Burrows of Chelsea Ave., Toronto, who celebrate on July 25, the sixty-fifth anniversary of their marriage. Mr. Burrows was born in Toronto on April 12, 1842, and is a prominent educationist, having been school inspector of Lennox and Addington counties for 36 years.

There will be mo family reunion, or calling together of their 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Although over four score years have been passed by both bride and groom, they follow the routine of many years of quiet study and happiness in their pretty home where Mrs. Burrrows still supervises the work of the garden and house.

Mr. Burrows long years of educational work so cultivated his penchant for study that he has never ceased learning. In his study is a blackboard where he works on French translations and on other subjects which interest him.

More here on Mr. Burrows

And the gentle white-haired woman who still manages the household, has been an artist too, for she did much painting when she was younger. Mrs. Burrows was formerly Miss Barrett of Wolfe Island, daughter of the agent-general of the seigneury of the late Baron Grant of Wolfe Island. The wedding sixty-five years ago, took place at the Barrett home on the island.

The late Mr. Herbert Burrows, a former city editor for the Globe, who died in 1904, was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Burrows.
