THE ISLANDS NEWSLETTER

November 29, 2001 What's new at The Islands page!

Greetings from the Webmaster
Hello everyone!

The last week has provided a lot of new additions to the web page, mainly due to wonderful people out there who are submitting information and photos. This week I would especially like to thank Chris Morrell, Robert Little and Gerry Ross for all of their submissions and help. The Islands wouldn't grow without people like them!! Thanks so much!!

I hope you will all stop by the page to see what is new, and what is up and coming...

What's New...
Just a reminder that ALL of the Sacred Heart, Wolfe baptisms from the register index are now online!!! These are ALL of the baptisms from 1833 to 1910. Also REGISTER OF BAPTISMS: Baptisms registered at the Cathedral in Kingston 1854-1869 of Wolfe islanders!
BIG BIG BIG thank you's to Chris for this!

New Researchers have been added!!

New Wolfe Island People Photos
Big big thanks to Bob Little for lots and lots of excellent photos of people from Wolfe Island. You can see these by going to Island Photos and scrolling down. Photos from Bob starting on Wolfe Island People 3 and going to page 5!!! Also see links to other documents, such as maps and a remembrance card!
Some surnames of people in these photos include;
Cook, Abbott, Sluman, Horne, Hodges, Estes and Coulter.

New Howe Island photos page!
Big Big thanks to Gerry Ross for submitting Howe Island photos. Be sure to see the old photo of St. Philomenas and the first island snow plow! Also Howe Island People 3 and 4 now up thanks to more photos from Gerry! Surnames include; Driscoll and McAllister.

And finally...

It's here!

Excerpts and photos from Winston Cosgroves Wolfe Island Past and Present now online!!

Big thank yous to Chris Morrell for all of her hard work with this and to Mrs. Cosgrove, who gave us her permission (Oct 10 2001) to put the book online as they will not be publishing it again.
Just a note, not all of the photos are online, some would not scan well (too dark or light etc)

What's to come....
What's in the works now you ask?

Well, the regular maintenance and addition of any links or information I find while surfing the net.

I will also be working on putting up more St. Philomena's tombstone photos one of these days.

What else? you ask?...
Not sure yet... I'll have to see what else there is I can get my hands on. If anyone has any ideas I'd be happy to hear them!

I'd really like to get plot maps/lists of all persons buried in the island cemeteries, as not everyone had a tombstone (or it has not survived).

If you'd like to help add to the page, please email me! If you have access to a library or LDS center and can do some transcriptions, that would be great, even if it's only a year at a time.
Please check out the Island Projects page to see some of the things I'm looking for.
Don't forget to check out the sidebar of this newsletter and make sure you've posted your surnames to the researchers lists. AND if you've any photos to share, I'm always looking for more of them!

Working Together

The Islands site is built and grows through the efforts of those who use it. I do what I can to add new information, but I am only one person. Please consider submitting information, photos or anything else you have to add to this site. Credit will be given to the submitter. See the new Island projects page at:
