Hello everyone!
Goodness its October already! Where did the summer go? I had some time in september to work on getting caught up on the site and there are lots of new additions! More to come soon too so check back often!
A Few Notes...
1851 census images now online!!
I've recieved a few emails with links to the new online 1851 census images... so here it is for those who haven't heard yet!
1851 census images
Census of 1851 (Canada East, Canada West,
New Brunswick and Nova Scotia)
At this point there is no name or street index. However, the images I looked at were excellent, much better than the microfilm.
Toronto researchers should be aware that the returns for Scarborough and the City of Toronto (1851 boundaries) have been lost, but if they are looking for a family that lived north of Bloor Street, or east of the Don River, or west of about Dufferin Street, they should be able to find them in York Township.
All researchers should be aware that the census was taken in January of 1852, although it is often referred to as the 1851 census.
Search
Please don't forget that you can search THIS SITE using the Freefind search engine at the top left. Unfortunetly there is no soundex search so be sure to try various name spellings. The transcriptions on this site are as accurate as possible in spelling, and we all know how terrible some of our ancestors, and those who wrote down records, were in the past! Best of luck!
