Obituary PIERCY, NEIL (Howe Island)
A heart attack appears to have cut short the life of a caring Kingston doctor, says one of his close friends.
Dr. Neil Piercy, an obstetrician who was one of Kingston's best- known baby doctors, died suddenly on the weekend at his summer home on Howe Island. His death was due to an apparent heart attack, says Douglas Macpherson, a Kingston lawyer who was friends with Dr. Piercy for 43 years.
Macpherson says there were no warnings and no signs that his friend had a heart problem. Dr. Piercy's death makes "no sense," says Macpherson. In 1965, Macpherson and Dr. Piercy went on a nine-month trip around the world, to destinations such as Australia, India, Cairo and across Europe. "I think the experience was something very unique. We were like brothers, or more than brothers," Macpherson says.
