Peacefully at Providence Manor, Kingston, on Tuesday June 25th, 2002, (2 weeks before her 93rd birthday), Agnes Cox, wife of the late George Oakley. Mother of Mary O'Neill. Grandmother of Kelly and Brian. Survived by her sister Anne Ingalls; several nieces and nephews and her brother-in-law Jim Oakley. Predeceased by her son-in-law Joe O'Neill and her siblings Inez Hagadorn; Carmel Boshart; Jim Cox and Mary Beaubiah. Resting at the McGlade Funeral Home, 78 Centre Street, Deseronto on Friday June 28th from 1 p.m. till 2:15 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Michael Reed on Friday at 2:30 p.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Deseronto. Interment St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery. Memoriam donations to the Providence Continuing Care Centre Foundation Providence Manor Site would be appreciated by the family.

FRANCIS JOSEPH (FRANK) DWYRE
Of Howe Island, R.R.#4, Gananoque, died at Kingston General Hospital on February 15, 1994. He was 73. Mr. Dwyre was the son of Mary Carty and Joseph Dwyre and was born in Elgin, Ontario. Mr. Dwyre was educated at Elgin Public and Continuation School, Elgin, Ontario; and attended St. Philomena's Roman Catholic Church, Howe Island. He was a foreman at Dupont of Canada Kingston for 36 years and served the Royal Canadian Navy during WW II. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an avid outdoorsman, loving boating, fishing, bird watching, gardening and travelling.
He is survived by his wife Agnes McHenry; father of Mary and her husband Mike Garrah (Howe Island), Brian and his wife Catherine (Cardinal), Tim and his wife Ann (Oshawa), Michael and his wife Louise (Kingston), John and his wife Carol (Howe Island); grandchildren Mark and Marty Garrah, Ruth, Dan, David, Sean, Kelly, Patrick, Dean and Lesley Dwyre; brother of John Dwyer (Elgin). He was predeceased by his mother and father.
The funeral was held on February 18th with Archbishop Spence, Fathers Flurey, Dwyre, Carty, Murphy and Speagle officiating. Also in attendance were many other supportive priests of the Diocese. Pallbearers were Ciff Graham, Mike Finn, Don O'Rourke, Alfie Pallister, Michael Picherack and Vince Rochefort. Interment was at St. Philomena's Cemetery, Howe Island.

In hospital on Wednesday April 16, 1997, in his 59th year, Francis Spencer Driscoll, of North Gower. Retired public school teacher, Carleton Board of Education. Dearly beloved husband and best friend of Glenna Marilyn Beck. Devoted father of Kimberly and Thomas, both at home. Dear brother of Bernard (Colleen) of Osgoode, Diane Renaud, Nepean, Tim (Sharon) of Kars, Wayne (Wendy) of Edmonton. Brother-in-law Douglas Beck and Clifford Renaud, predeceased. Howe Island native, Mrs. Loretta Quinn, 61, who died April 9 at the Gananoque residence of her sister, was buried recently at St. John the Evangelist cemetery.
She was a daughter of the late Israel Garrah and his wife, the former Margaret Leavis, and had been a Howe Island resident all her life. Mrs. Quinn had attended the church of St. John the Evangelist and was a member of the Catholic Women's League.
Surviving are a son, John, of Howe Island; a daughter, Mrs. Dale (Margaret) Ashton of Edmonton, Alta.; three sisters, Mrs. Arnold Dorey and Mrs. Edward Murchie, both of Gananoque, and Mrs. Evelyn Martin of Portsmouth; three brothers, Ira Garrah, Howe Island, Raymond and Elroy Garrah, Kingston, and seven grandchildren.
Rev. Bernard O'Neill officiated at a service held at the Church of St. John the Evangelist. Committal prayers were offered by Rev. E. J. Way. Pallbearers were Wilfred Garrah, James Murchie, Ronald Garrah, Charles Dorey, Gene Garrah and Kenneth Martin.

MAHONEY
Mrs. James Mahoney (Mary Clarke) wife of Captain James Mahoney, died on Saturday evening, June 15th, 1918 at her late residence 196 King St. W. Mrs. Mahoney was 64 years of age and was the daughter of James Clarke and Bridgit Duffy of Kingston. Mrs. Mahoney was born on Howe Island but the family had resided in Kingston for many years. The funeral will be held on Tuesday morning at 9:30 to St. Mary's cathedral where solemn requiem mass will be celebrated. Burial will take place on Howe Island. Surviving Mrs. Mahoney are her husband, Capt. J. Mahoney, five daughters, Mrs. Matthew Cox, Howe Island; Mrs. Thomas (Anne) Fitzpatrick, Philadelphia, N.Y.; Mrs. Ross Jolley (Agnes), Ballston Spa, N.Y.; Mrs. Catherine La Vote, Kingston; Mrs. Alexander Scrutton (Margaret); Miss Theresa Mahoney, New York City; one son Patrick at home. She leaves a wide of friends and relatives to mourn her loss.

The funeral of Mrs. William J. Driscoll, the former Catherine McAllister, who died at her residence on Howe Island, after an illness of some weeks, took place from her late residence to St. Philomena's Church.
Requiem high mass was sung at 10 o'clock by the Rev. T. J. Larkin who also read the committal prayers at the graveside in St. Philomena's Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Cecil McReynolds, Michael Driscoll, Timothy Prior, Bernard Kane, James Khant and Francis Garrah.
Mrs. Driscoll was born in Bedford, Ontario, the daughter of the late Simon McAllister and Ellen Burns. She attended St. Philomena's Church and was a member of the Catholic Women's League.
Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Gordon Kenney (Ursula),,Elgin; Mrs. Raymond Mallen (Eleanor),Seeleya Bay; Mrs. Leonard Deir (Rose),Kingston, and Mrs. Douglas Nelson (Edna), Gananoque; two sons, Ignatius and James, Howe Island; two brothers, John McAllister of Montana and Mark McAllister of California; two sisters, Mrs. Roy Kirley, Montana, and Mrs. Veronica Godfrey, Kingston; and 16 grandchildren.
Mrs. Driscoll's husband predeceased her some years ago.

Death Occurs at Greystone Farm of Cerebral Hemorrhage - Rites Saturday Mrs. Margaret Loretta Foley, 60, wife of John J. Foley, prominent town of Rutland farmer, died this morning about 7:30 at the family home, Greystone Farm, Burrville Road, about three miles from the city limits, after a brief illness. Death was caused by cerebral hemorrhage. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 8:30 from the Greystone Farm and at 9 in the Holy Family Church. Burial will be made in Glenwood cemetery.
Surviving Mrs. Foley, besides her husband, are five daughters, Miss Rosemary Foley, associated with the American Red Cross in New York city, Second Lieut. Margaret E. Foley, of the Army Nurse corps, a graduate of the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, now a patient in the Halloran General Hospital, Staten Island, Miss DeVerde Foley, who is associated with the Girl Scouts of New York in New York city, Miss Mary Alice Foley, a student nurse at the Providence Hospital, Washington, D. C., and Miss Rosella Foley, residing on the farm; two sisters, Mrs. Augusta Murphy, Kingston, Ont., and Mrs. William (DeVerde) Harney, Brooklyn; a brother, John I. Murphy, near Kingston, Ont., and nephews and nieces. Mrs. Foley died only six months after her husband�s sister-in-law Mrs. Richard V. (Mary E. Gibson) Foley, who died at the age of 65 on March 10, also at the Greystone Farm.
Mrs. Foley was suddenly stricken with the cerebral hemorrhage at her home about 10 Tuesday night. She became unconscious about an hour later and remained in a coma until her death.
Mrs. Foley had apparently been in her usual health and on Tuesday - the day she was stricken ill - she attended the funeral of a cousin of Mr. Foley in Kingston, Ont. She was as well as usual when she returned home. Her husband and two daughters, DeVerde and Rosella, accompanied her on the Canadian trip.
She was born on Wolfe Island, Ont., Feb. 21, 1886, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Holiday Murphy. The early part of her life was spent on that island and she was educated in schools of Wolfe Island and Kingston.

JAMES FITZGERALD
Howe Island - The death occurred of James Edward Fitzgerald in his 64th year. Until a few months ago he enjoyed good health. Mr. Fitzgerald was born and raised in Portsmouth. In his early manhood he played baseball in Kingston and vicinity. He later moved to Chicago with his family, where he was employed in the Sears and Roebuck Co. He later moved to Louisville, Kentucky and from there to the C.P.R. farm in Western Canada where he spent several years as dairy manager. He came east and for a short time worked in the locomotive works during the Great War. About 16 years ago he became employed by the late Mrs. Annie Cadue of Howe Island and until a few months ago, successfully managed her farm.
Mr. Fitzgerald is survived by two brothers, Thomas Fitzgerald of Chicago, Ill., and Major Gerald Fitzgerald of Milwaukee, Wis. The funeral took place from James Reid�s undertaking parlours to St. Mary�s Cathedral where a solemn requiem mass was sung by Rev. Father Brady. The pall-bearers were Michael Muchmore, George Gaudreau, Aubrey Abeles and William Dehaney. The remains were placed in St. Mary�s vault to await burial in St. Mary�s cemetery in the spring.

Howe Island - Mrs Adolphus LaChance, a life-long resident of Howe Island, died here late Monday night. She was born on the island 83 years ago, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Kane. Surviving are her husband, Pat LaChance, four sons, Jim, Peter, Pat and Bernard all of the island, and a daughter, Margaret, of the island. Another daughter, Mrs. Michael McCarthy, died a few years ago. The funeral will be held Thursday morning with services in St. Philomena�s Church conducted by Rev. Fr. Callahan.

TWO GANANOQUE LADIES ARE DEAD
Mrs. McArthur and Mrs. Sly Passed Away Over the Weekend
Gananoque, March 1 - On Saturday night at ten o�clock the death occurred at her residence, Brock Street, of Melinda Wiseman, wife of Robert P. McArthur, who had been in poor health for the past few years. The deceased was born on Howe Island on May 24th, 1853, and was married to Robert McArthur on May 2, 1874; she had since that time resided in Gananoque. Mrs. McArthur was one of Gananoque�s oldest and most respected citizens. Maggie Louise, a daughter, died in 1883, and William K., a son, was killed at Great Falls, Montana, in 1909.
Deceased is survived by her husband and one daughter, Mrs. W. J. Wilson, who has been very devoted to her mother during her latter years, also one sister, Mrs. Alex See of Gananoque.
Mrs. McArthur was a member of Christ Anglican Church and the funeral took place on Monday afternoon to the church where Rev. N. R. Stout, the rector, who was assisted by Rev. Charles K. Kidd, minister of St. Andrew�s Presbyterian Church, had charge. Interment took place at Willowbank Cemetery.

ROBERT J. FOLEY
At the Hotel Dieu Hospital on Tuesday night about 9:30 o�clock occurred the death of Robert J. Foley of Howe Island. Mr. Foley took seriously ill about two weeks ago and as his condition grew gradually worse, he was removed to the Hotel Dieu Hospital where it was discovered that he was suffering from a complications of diseases.
Mr. Foley was born on Howe Island on April 16, 1875, and was the son of the late John Foley, former warden of Frontenac County, and Elizabeth Simpson Foley, both natives of Howe Island. In January 1903 he was married to Mary Ellen Pickett, who was also born on Howe Island. He leaves to mourn his loss his widow, five sons and four daughters, Robert V., Wilfred J., Cecil A., Leonard E. and Archibald Richard, Beatrice M., Edith V., Elizabeth and Edna, all at home. The following brothers and sisters also survive; Richard and John J. Foley of Greystone Farm, Watertown, N.Y. and Dr. Ira N. Foley of Flint, Michigan. One brother, Archie Foley, passed away at Watertown on February 5th, 1919; Mrs. W. A. Kelly of Flint, Mich. Mrs. F. A. Hebor of Watertown, N.Y., Mrs. John Pickett and Mrs. Patrick Quinn, both of Howe Island. Mr. Foley had followed the occupation of farmer all his life and in religion was a devout member of the Catholic faith. The remains were removed to the family home on Howe Island where the funeral service will take place on Friday morning from St. Philomena�s Church.

ROBERT J. FOLEY
The funeral of the late Robert J. Foley, who died in Kingston on Tuesday, took place on Friday morning from his late residence, Howe Island, to St. Philomena�s Church where solemn requiem mass was celebrated at nine-thirty o�clock by Rev. L Staley of Gananoque. The funeral was very largely attended and a great many spiritual and floral offerings were placed on the casket. The pallbearers were Richard Foley, Dr. Ira Foley, John Pickett, Robert Simpson, Patrick Leavis and James Leavis.

Foley, Robert Joseph (Bob) of Howe Island, born March 27th, 1943 (Retired from Tackaberry Heating Supplies). Bob had a great love for Howe Island and a greater love for his friends and family. After a courageous battle with cancer, Bob passed away Tuesday, November 29 2005, at St. Mary�s of the Lake Hospital. Son of the late Cecil and Martha (nee Garrah) Foley. Beloved husband of Rita (nee Dillon). Loving and dedicated dad to Stephen (Heather), Erin and Justin. Dear brother of Anne Marie Walkey, Linda Dill bough (Merton) and Neil Foley. Nephew of Madeline Foley and Bob Gannon. Son-in-law of Bob Dillon and the late Florence Dillon (nee Murphy). Also survived by in-laws Rita Dillon, Helen and Jack Harrison, Colleen Dillon, Catherine Dillon, Patrick and Maggi Dillon, Joseph and Monique Dillon, Sister Louise Dillon (RHSJ), Eileen and Randy Grooms. Predeceased by brothers John and Donald Foley and brothers-in-law Ernest Walkey, Raymond, Hugh and Donald Dillon. Sadly missed by many special nephews, nieces, cousins and friends and fondly remembered by Stephanie and Mike. Will also be missed by his loyal dog �Al�. Special thanks to the medical personnel from All-Care and the health care team at St. Mary�s of the Lake Hospital. Visitation at Tompkins Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, December 1 and 2-4 p.m and 7-9 p.m. Friday, December 2. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 3 at 10.00 a.m. St. John�s Roman Catholic Church, 270 Stone Street, Gananoque. Monsignor Donald Clement and Father John F. Grainger officiating. Rite of Committal St. Philomena�s, Howe Island. As expressions of sympathy, the family would appreciate donations to St. Mary�s of the Lake Palliative Care Unit and the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. Parish Prayers will be held in the funeral home on Friday evening at 7:45.

(Retired Federal Civil Servant with health and Welfare Ottawa) Suddenly at Monfort Hospital, in Ottawa, on Wednesday August 7, 1996, in her 86th year, daughter of the late Robert Foley and his wife Ellen Pickett, dear sister of Mrs. Edna Gannon, of Oshawa; and Dr. Archie Foley of New York City; and sister-in-law of Madeline Foley, of Kingston and Bob Gannon or Oshawa; predeceased by her sisters Beatrice Murphy, and Elizabeth McKenna and her brothers Robert, Wilfred and Cecil, Leonard, and Richard, a special aunt and fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews and their families. Friends will be received at the Central Chapel the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Home, 49 Colborne Street (at Clergy) on Friday 1-4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Philomena's Church, Howe Island on Saturday, August 10 at 1:30 p.m. Rite of Committal in the Parish Cemetery.
