Obituary for MRS. HENRY HALLIDAY (Wolfe Island)
from Jefferson Web site.
The Late Mrs. Henry Halliday

Deep and wide-spread was the sorrow when it was known a short time ago that death had entered the home of Henry Halliday and claimed his fair young wife after an illness of only a few days. Mrs. Halliday was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Niles, of Wolfe Island, and only became the bride of Mr. Halliday--now bereaved--last January. A service in memory of the deceased lady was held in the Methodist church, foot of Wolfe Island, last Sabbath afternoon. Sorrowing friends filled the edifice to its utmost capacity, and the many beautiful floral tributes testified to the love and esteem in which the departed one was held and were fit emblems of her lovely character.
Rev. G. R. Lang conducted the memorial service and based his address on the words of John XIV, 1-3. He feelingly contrasted the sadness of his mission to-day with the joyfulness of Jan 23rd when it was his privilege to unite Mr. and Mrs. Halliday in the bonds of holy matrimony. During the service the choir--of which Mrs. Halliday had been a member--sang touching and appropriate selections, and at the conclusion the friends and relatives went in procession to the cemetery carrying with them the offerings of choice flowers, with which they literally covered the grave. The relatives of the late Mrs. Henry Halliday gratefully acknowledge the sympathy and kindness shown them in their great sorrow by their friends and would like them to know how fully they appreciate the offerings of lovely flowers which were placed on the grave.
