My story begins 25 years ago. I went to the funeral of a woman whom I knew to be a Cousin, and found out that I had known her daughter, all my life, and never knew her daughter was my Cousin also. This made this ole Tiger mad!!!! G-r-r-r-r-r!!!! I decided then and there that I needed to find out who my relatives were and where they came from. Then I decided I needed to know more about my ancestors as well. Little did I know what a Pandora's Box I was opening. Not only did I start tracing my ancestors through Census Records, but I found myself going through miles and miles of microfilm looking at all the old newspapers of my county (Wyoming Co., PA), to find any articles on my ancestors or relatives. I looked for births, engagements, marriages, anniversaries, and obituaries. As I was going through them, I also collected a great deal of information on the county itself, which of course, I copied down. However, this was only the beginning of the projects I would find myself involved in. I have spent many hours in courthouses and libraries , not to mention the hours I have spent in cemeteries gathering information. Then there were many more hours at the computer putting the information into my FTM and FTW programs or making Family History Books. My Ancestral Garden is forever blooming, and even though some of my Roses may have a few thorns, and the weeds continue to grow among the Tulips , Pansies , Daisies , and Daffodils , and the occasional Nuts fall from the Family Tree , I have had a lot of enjoyment in the searching. I must admit however, that there are times when I really feel like howling at the moon. Especially when I can't find a vital piece of information or the next generation back. Then out of the blue, I find a NEW Cousin or Ancestor and then the joy is overwhelming. The JOY is there no matter how near or distant the relationship may be. Also in my searching I have found many new friends. There's Bob, Dale, MJ, Suz, Jon, Jane, Brunk, Kragle, and Nite, just to mention a few. They have been of great help and inspiration. When I am down and depressed, they are there to make me smile . We have all shed a few tears for the lost records and information we may never find, but, each new ancestor or relative we DO find adds gold coins to our pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and makes our lives more complete.
